Not true at all. I was down there for several sold out 72k+ games at the Orange Bowl before it was demolished in 2008.
Hard to tell what Miami's heyday is unless it's a 25 year period, but the OB would routinely fill up.
Now that they're way up north in Roby stadium, I mean Landshark stadium, I mean Sun Life stadium, I mean Dolphin Stadium, and the team really sucks, no one shows up to games. Students either have to endure a 90 minutes shuttle ride (not so appealing if you pre-game before the shuttle and are packed in like sardines with full bladders) or get charged $40 to park and tailgate after the 45 minute to an hour drive from campus.
This one is squarely on the University administration, and they need to fix it quick.
They did have some huge crowds but historically they rarely averaged more than 50,000.
Frankly, 50,000 in the Orange Bowl sounded like 747s landing, so that was okay.
Yes and that's what matters. 50,000 Tiger fans in the Liberty Bowl would be awesome.
