Last Chance To Impress Before Oct 28th Vote
This will be our last chance to impress the selection panel before the Oct. 28th first vote. The members have stated they will put heavy emphasis on who you chose to schedule. ECU chose to schedule a solid p5 bowl team(NC) from last year along with a highly respected and often ranked top25 Va. Tech team. In addition we scheduled a South Carolina team on the road who had won 11 games in the SEC for 3 years in a row. Even with them only being 4-3 a lose to a team of this caliber is not[/b] terrible. What I am saying is that we put it all on the line in scheduling vs a Marshall team who scheduled no one. Would like your thoughts on how you think we will be viewed on the 28th. I f we have the opportunity to get style points should we??
We could have hung 80 on UNC. We played our backups the 4th quarter with a 63 27 lead. We could lose to UConn probably the most respected program in the conference; However if you get the opportunity to put up style points as Marshall does, Do you embarrass a respected conference mate in this case. I do not think our coach would go there. That is not him. The same question will probably be asked when we play basketball. Like your thoughts and UCONN folks.

I think that the Committee's poll will look like the Coaches poll, because the Committee is composed of a bunch of old coaches and AD's.

Yes. Hell yes. You "could have hung 80" on UNC, maybe yes maybe no, the fact is you hung 70 on them and that's good enough. But that was one game. It helps ECU's case if you're beating your scrub opponents by 40 more than if you win by 20 (*cough* SMU *Cough* USF). And 60 is better than 40.

You're competing with a MArshall who has scored 40+ in every game. If AAC also-rans are looking semi-competitive against ECU, you could have a problem.

While I agree that we need to win and win big, USF, UCONN, or Tulsa are likely to be looked at as better than FIU, FAU, or UTSA just based off the name.

When we left C-USA one of things I was happy about was not being around Marshall fans anymore. Then this year we still have to deal with them. I hope they would leave us alone and let everything play out. Marshall fans need to realize that C-USA is not nearly as hard as the American and that East Carolina's out of conference was more difficult than Marshall's.

I wish Marshall the best but damn you make it difficult.

Uh, I do believe I've seen you over on our board...

And I agree with your statement but only insofar as the top half of the conference...But that being said, I agree that it is more difficult to go up against ECU, UCF, Houston, and Cincy versus FIU, FAU, etc...

I really think its going to be close and ECU is going to have to look more convincing in its wins bc Marshall sure is. And just FYI, FAU steamrolled Tulsa I think.

RE: Last Chance To Impress Before Oct 28th Vote
I will be right annoyed if the committee puts much faith in final scores of ECU, Marshall and Colorado State. They should be taking coaching style, command of the game, schedule strength, etc. into account. Marshall HAS to run up the score since their schedule is so weak. Is it possible that Marshall gets to a record of 12-0 without playing a single team ending better than 6-6? Might happen. UNC win was good, USC and VaTech need to win a lot more.

Tulsa has had a bit of success in the past few years, and people know their name.

If you can get Williams back at RB you are capable of being at least respectable. Without him your offense looked offensive against Pitt.

It's absurd the number injuries we've had to our running game.

RB #1: Trey Edmunds was our leading rusher last year who fractured his leg at the end of the season. Because he was still recovering, he missed the first three games of this season. He was back in for 3 games and broke his collarbone so he's out again.

RB #2: Marshawn Williams is our second best RB who sprained his ankle during the same game that Trey Edmunds broke his collarbone. He's currently out too.

RB #3: Shai McKenzie is our third best RB who tore his ACL and is out for the season.

We're stuck starting people who have no business being starters.
