I post this for two reasons…Quietly Colorado St could be a player in the access bowl deal and for other reasons I will not speak of..05-stirthepot

This is ECU's to lose at this point. Keep the pedal down, win, and advance.

If ECU wins out up to the UCF game, I won't even be mad if y'all beat us.

Very difficult to do that. Will be nice if it happens! Would be nice for both teams to win until that game.

ECU needs to win out and then were all set. Its an extra half million in all our pockets if they can do it... and more importantly they need to win the Access bowl. Long term, there may NEVER be any more conference expansion so we need the American to increase in value so that we are truly seen as the 6th best and paid that way.

IF East Carolina can win out AND UCF can win out, THEN...

...having that season finale on ESPN Thursday night against the Knights will be great exposure/publicity for the American. Of course, that is, assuming the Pirates win. 04-cheers

Also, with all of the C-USA West teams already having 3 or more losses, it looks unlikely that Marshall will have a very appealing opponent in the C-USA title game 2 days later.

You'd think they'd proof read an article on a website like NBC sports.

Colorado State's biggest issue is they need Boise State to lose a conference game. Right now their resume stacks up with ECU in terms of quality wins. Marshall will be the great unknown if they finish 13-0. The board probably has a million threads debating Marshall's schedule and how worthy they are for an access bowl game so I am not going to add to the argument other than saying we have no clue how the committee will view a 13-0 team that lacks a signature win. At this point I still think the Mountain West is a bigger threat than anybody on this board wants to believe.

The only threat in the MWC if ECU wins out would be Colorado St but like you said they are behind the 8 ball as they need Boise St to lose another game to give them the chance to play for a conference championship. If both ECU and Marshall were to lose a game things would get very crazy for the G5 spot.

I don't know what all the consternation on this board is about. It's simple. If ECU wins out, they get the spot. If they lose a game, then it gets messy, and could be one of several teams from several conferences.

man wont it be funny if they all crash and burn down the stretch and GA Southern gets the bowl. Man that would be absolutely hilarious.

I've been tellin them we should get Ga Southern.

A lot of crazy shite will have to happen for that to play out. A loss by ECU and Marshall would make things very interesting for sure. Hopefully we do not have to see it play out in that manner.

The consternation is coming from those darn Marshall and CUSA fans trolling here with their nonsense. They all know what you are saying but they like to see ECU and AAC fans squirm.

I wouldn't even debate the trolls. ECU just has to win out. They wont go down in rankings and Marshall isn't going to move up with the wins that they have left. Their schedule is full of cupcakes and wont impress any committee.

You still have UCF which even if they aren't as strong as last year, they are the defending Fiesta Champs and will be considered more of a quality win than anything they have left.

I'm too worried about the back to back road trips to Temple and Cincinnati to think about UCF.

This.

The fact is that ECU will be very fortunate to win out. Frankly, I'll be surprised if we do it. We've got a great team and one more loss won't change that; however, it is hard for athletes to have that much focus and not let an element of "something" kick in for that many wins in a row.

What I'm saying is that it can be hard for athletes to stay in the game mentally for that many games.

If it happens, I'll be thrilled and booking y trip to (likely) the Peach Bowl.
