Too bad the AD scheduled the 125th out of 128th hardest schedule in FBS. That is something out of the control of the players. Maybe i have missed it but don't see the Herd fans with any outrage towards him or why that was allowed to happen.
No posts or threads can 'spin it' any other way than it is/was an easy schedule. It is what it is. The optics of ECU beating a Va Tech team that lost again trumps all the Herd blowouts of bad/mediocre teams. I was flamed for saying that the majority of P5 FBS teams plus a few non P5 would be undefeated right now playing the same schedule. Probably not all by same margin of victory but point is that when you are in non-P5, you have to play a few P5 games. Nobody will know how good the Herd team really is. They are clearly the class of the conference but no signature W's so they will not get the props they deserve. Feel bad for some really talented players on that team.

Our AD scheduled a good USM team, a regional rival in Ohio and Miami OH, a decent Akron team, ECU, UCF, Louisville.
We were given 3 crappy MAC teams, a terrible USM, Old Dominion, FIU, FAU, and Rhode Island instead.
Please explain the part I put in bold as I don't understand how your AD scheduled USM when we are in the same conference

I'm not selling my team short, I am telling it like it is. You think we are going to go take Arkansas down this week? And they are what, 10th or so in the sec? Nobody in our conference beat a power 5 team this year. Zero. And we had many, many opportunities. Im not buying into the last place team in power 5 conferences can beat any G5 team, but I am saying their top half could win every game on your schedule.
Don't worry.
I wish someone better than UAB was on our schedule, too.
I don't know if you are trying to offend me, but I am well aware of what a dumpster fire our program is. I wish we were better this year for your sake too. It is great for the entire conference to have a relevant team or two.

They went 82-30 from 1998-2006.

Not what this is about.
Aren't road games tougher than home games? I'd like to see consistency from critics of Marshall's schedule. Where is their criticism of teams that avoid road games?
Top 5 Notre Dame just played their first road game last night. They lost.
Marshall has gone on the road 4 times and won them all. If Marshall wins them all, they'll be the only team with six road wins.
P5 schools, think it would be easy to go undefeated with Marshall's schedule? Think you can't lose a game at some place like Akron? Try it sometime.
Actually ND played at Syracuse on 9/27. All night the talking heads kept saying "this is Notre Dame's first true road game. Apparently they have no more trouble disrespecting non-power Power 5 teams than they do G5 teams.

I agree with you that many p5 teams would roll through that schedule though. I'd say at least half could make it through undefeated.
I have always said their is something to being undefeated though. If the p5 teams keep dropping, it's going to be very interesting to see where Marshall and ECU enter the equation. I'm sure they will at least be discussed by the selection committee.
P5 schools lose to G5 all the time... I don't think "more than half" would go 12-0 against our schedule.
This. It is not easy to go undefeated. In any conference at any level. I am surprised at the lack of understanding of what an undefeated season really means. You have to be a GREAT team to ever sniff being undefeated.... not good. Great.
We had a 5% chance to go undefeated prior to game one according to the espn math gurus. Even now it is around a 50% chance. It is not easy.

Northern Illinois was not a great team a few years ago. Sometimes a weak schedule is a weak schedule.

In 2002, Louisville beat Florida State. Marshall beat them with a QB playing with a broken leg, 38-15. That Marshall team was not very good defensively.
Louisville shared the Big East title in 2011. Marshall beat them in their house.
Marshall was I-AA and beat Louisville there.
Marshall has beat them in four stadiums (old Cardinal Stadium at the Fairgrounds, Silverdome, Mobile, and Papa John's).
Just wanted to clarify.

You realize that the difference between "at least half" and "more than half" is only one team, right? ...and that's assuming an even number of teams. If there are an odd number, the two are synonymous unless we decide to play football with half teams! (I know some teams are really lacking in offense or defense, but I'm not sure if that counts as half a team.)

Last i checked, they did not go undefeated that season. Further proving the point of how difficult it is and how only great teams do it. Had they won their bowl, they would have been GREAT.

Notre Dame did not play AT Syracuse...game was at East Rutherford, NJ. Notre Dame has played exactly one game at an opponent's home stadium so far.
Notre Dame has 6 games in South Bend, 3 neutral site games, and 3 true away games (still has Arizona State and USC away) in 2014.

Wow. Bitter much? I thought it was pretty clear that I was just being playful. I was only attempting to inject a little levity into the thread. Not all of us Marshall guys subscribe to the aggressive chest-thumping mentality.
I am curious, though. How did I not "do it right"? Maybe I'm just a little dense (at my age, it wouldn't be the first time), but I really have no idea what you're talking about with that statement.

If you don't phrase your response in a very delicate way, in such that no one could possibly infer that you don't agree with 99, then you are wrong and did not do it right.

Wow. Bitter much? I thought it was pretty clear that I was just being playful. I was only attempting to inject a little levity into the thread. Not all of us Marshall guys subscribe to the aggressive chest-thumping mentality.
I am curious, though. How did I not "do out right"? Maybe I'm just a little dense (at my age, it wouldn't be the first time), but I really have no idea what you're talking about with that statement.

RE: Wanna talk schedules?
There's a lot of replies to this thread. None of them address the main point.
P5 teams play far less road games than G5 teams, yet they claim they play tougher schedules.
Thoughts? Please discuss.
