Yes, less than 1%, that's for sure. But with no time-outs, the chances of that happening wouldn't even be considerable. There was about 40 seconds left. It was be insane to think a team could do it, to score 19 points -- 3 possessions -- in 40 seconds. Add to that, two 2-pt conversions. I think it'd break the record books of the modern day.
I agree, it TECHNICALLY eliminates that by him stopping. If scoring the TD would *only* put us up by *2* possessions, I'd agree -- "Don't Go In!".
But needing 3 possessions, in 40 seconds with NO TIMEOUTS? Ain't going to happen.
For the super-paranoid, he could have stopped, then on our final play, punch it in :)

He takes it in and WMU is up 18. That's why I wondered in the game thread if that was his own idea or the coaches told him to do that if the situation presented himself.
If Franklin strolls into the end-zone, then the Broncos go up 33-14 with a minute remaining.
It's a HUGE stretch, but that would allow BGSU to get the ball back. Let's say hypothetically, they score, convert the two-point conversion (33-22), recover an onside kick and score again (33-30), then recover another onside kick and make a miracle FG to tie it and go to overtime.
Like I said it's a HUGE stretch and the percent chance that happens is less than 1% (todd, please confirm?), but we've seen crazier things happen in college football. With BGSU's explosive offense, you just never know.
But if Franklin stops short of the goal line -- which he did -- the chances of BGSU getting the ball back is zero. So there's a little bit of strategy there. Like you said, I'd be curious to know if he was instructed to do that. Maybe David Drew will ask?
And then Jesus floated down from heaven and passed out chocolate chip cookies, as big as your head, to everyone in the stadium.
Could it happen? Hmmm, maybe, but they would have had to add a new book to the bible afterwords.

are we sure he did it intentionally? it wasn't that he was off balance and stumbled?
I think we should have punched it in afterwards but there was no need.

I'm 99% sure he did it on purpose.

Pretty sure everyone on earth agrees BGSU wasn't coming back regardless of whether or not he scores there.
The point is that Franklin's unselfish play iced it completely.

Called the "The Newer Testament of the MAC East". I think the MAC would bump up from ESPN3 coverage to something a bit greater!

True... but running it in would have completely iced it too, being up by 3 possessions, 40 seconds left, and BGSU with no timeouts remaining -- all in a game that was a defensive battle & not a shootout.
It was out of respect/kindness. It was a "Hey, we respect you. It's not like we're in Idaho..."

Agree to disagree on both points.

Remember the rainy BG game at Waldo somewhere between the late 90's and 2000. The Broncos had went up by 2 scores and Urban Meyer decides he's going to use all 3 of his timeouts with less than 15 seconds on the clock.
BG and Criminal Mischief U have always been a classy bunch of thugs, whiners and criers.
I remember being at Waldo for that game - not counting games against CMU, that moment may have been the loudest I can remember Bronco fans booing an opponent at Waldo.
