If the game was at 6pm, I expect a few more thousands at the game and a USM win.

Night games are electric.

Can you tell us which location you were in? Our end zone facility is diversified and divided into a number of different venues. I am not questioning your numbers because I wasnt in any of the different locations down there, my seats are far removed, and you cant see unless in the immediate area.

are you sure with your count, johnnylightnin? per our friend EE - there should be at least 5-8k people in there to make his 22k estimate.

I know this doesn't need to be posted, but this EE asswipe has nothing to do with USM and if by chance he does, he is officially not claimed. As for yesterday's crowd, it was very disappointing, but not unexpected. I would estimate butts in the seats at 16 thousand.

Help me out here if you will. I quoted an undocumented estimate and disclosed my logic in arriving at my number. How did you arrive at yours? Were you admitted to the M Club area in North end zone. Were you allowed to cruise the suites (gotta have a ticket in hand to get on those elevators up to those you know), how about them club seat areas (did you mooch food from them). Did you walk through the common area under the South end zone suites? How many do you think was atop the end zone, either standing or canopies? How did you arrive at 16 thousand? You called me an asswipe so document your conclusion.

RE: La Tech @ Southern Miss
Congrats on the win La Tech. It was good to see some visiting fans in our stadium. Hope that all of you who made the trip had an enjoyable experience.

As far as the game goes, we knew it was going to be extremely tough to get a win once we lost our QB. Your defensive coaches adjusted well, and were gonna force our backup to beat you, and he just isn't good enough to do that. Kudos to your staff.

Once we lost 1 of our safeties to ejection ( both of our 2nd team safeties were in street clothes with injuries), we were forced to play 1st yr guy at safety who had been a 3rd or 4th team corner until 2 weeks ago. Then our only experienced corner was injured early in 2nd half, and we were playing a nickel defense with 4 of the 5 being first yr Div 1 players. At that point, it was practically over. We were missing our starting MLB and a starting DL also. Our team just doesn't have the depth to overcome all of that right now.

It was a hard hitting game from both teams. We lost one of our most consistent/senior WR early in the game also, Hunter Lee. We played with 3 true freshman WRs pretty much the whole game.
Hope your guys get healed quickly.

Wish I could have been there. I have always wanted to visit the Rock. Best wishes to USM the rest of the season. Unlike other teams in the West, I am rooting for you guys to win out.

I like Coach Monken's statement on the injuries....he gets it. No whiny excuses.

Quote:Monken declined to put any blame on the outcome of the game on Mullens' injury.

"It's an excuse," he said. "It's doesn't matter. The moment we start making excuses for who goes in the game, we're wrong."

RE: La Tech @ Southern Miss
I had a good time at the game.

Felt like Tech was lucky to still be in it at the end of the first half. Luckily the officiating was completely on our side in the first half. It was nice to be on the good side of bad officiating for once.

The crowd was sparse for USM, I had a group of 7 and when we came in at the start of the game, someone had taken our seats in the Tech section so we moved up into the shade to get the kids out of the sun. After half we were able to move back down to our seats (I guess some Tech fans left).

We only had one bad encounter with a USM fan. Other than that everyone was really nice and pleasant.

I like it, too. That is the stance that the coaches have to have. However, injuries are reality, and they do have an effect on games.

I decided to just do Mugshots before the game with my 6-year old grandson rather than rush the tailgating with the early kick-off, saw plenty of La Tech fans in there. Glad you all made the trip, we'll be making the game in Ruston next year.

I was on level 3 and was able to walk past the suites and see who was inside. Those outside far outnumbered those on the inside. I wasn't able to access the other levels, so perhaps there were more inside there.

All that said, I was very impressed with the facility and the fans. I can't wait to make my way to the Hub City again.

Yes, my 10 year old was in football heaven with all of the screens around the room as we ate. (So was I) Thanks for the recommendation.
