It almost looked like the lower leg was just dangling from his knee.

Wow. So is it fair to question how good south al is?

Since no one asked yet.

Or maybe we all can admit that Ga State is better than they get credit for. One day they will learn how to finish a team off and when they do...

I don't know. South looked pretty terrible yesterday. The South that played yesterday was the one that got slaughtered by Georgia Southern.

Yes we are horrible, hope you and your team look right over us in a couple of weeks. Any day your QB is 11-32 and you win by rushing for 330 yards, you are lucky that one part of the offense picked up the slack for the other. Seems we play better on the road this year, go figure.

I will take an ugly win any day versus a loss.

I'll be there. I think the USA Jags will be too. Not the Jags who beat GSU but the Jags who held the number one team in the nation (MSU) to less than 36 points this year... something only one other team's been able to do in 2014 btw 04-cheers

See y'all in Lafayette 04-rock

I think South Ala is a good team, if their WR could catch balls that hit them in the numbers. Our game vs them would have been VERY close had they completed some open passes. They just couldn't catch anything. If they were catching balls vs GaState, it would have been a blow out. They seem to be that team that is very close to putting it together, but keeps tripping on their own feet.

Apparently, the SunBelt is taking a look at the fumble that should have been.

I'm guessing they ruled forward progress was stopped? This is from that same article and completely wrong:

Another strange incident occurred toward the end of the game when offsetting penalties were called after a South Alabama player punched Georgia State’s Keith Rucker at the end of a kickoff return. It appeared that the punch was unprovoked.

After the play was well over and the whistle had blown, Rucker trucked Berron Tyson when he wasn't even looking. I sat right in front of where it happened. That drew the boos from the crowd you could hear on ESPN 3. Tyson retaliated with the punch. The ESPN 3 announcers didn't see Rucker's late (and cheap) hit, they only saw the punch. It was provoked, that's why there were offsetting personal fouls, with the first one being called on Rucker.

I watched the replay and couldn't even see his knees. Or maybe it was because I wasn't looking hard enough because I hate seeing injuries like that. If I had to bet, I'd say it was a fumble, but due to the awkward position of his injured leg I'm still not sure.

Speaking of, USA fans heard anything about the injury yet? I hate for anything bad like that to happen to any player.

Don't know. I know one ref threw his fumble bag and the white-hat overruled it right after saying the runner was stopped before the fumble occurred. It was definitely a "fumble", the question is if a whistle was blown beforehand.

FWIW I agreed with the offsetting penalties ruling. It looked as if he was very much provoked. Still, that's not going to excuse him for throwing a punch, and could lead to a full 1 game suspension instead of the half game that's automatic. It was a fumble, though I never saw a clear recovery for Georgia State.

As for the official struggles, we're really not being helped by the SEC assigning our crews. They seem to be throwing test crews together out there to give some officials needed experience. We end up with extremely experienced head refs who have called numerous high level football games, while getting stuck with a line judge whose in his first season of FBS Football. These guys haven't worked together before, and the chemistry is clearly an issue. There was almost another down screw up in this past game that thankfully someone caught.

Sun Belt refs are truly terrible. USA was on the GSU-end of the refs @Troy last year. Sometimes you get the breaks, other times you get the screw driver. Such is life.
