RE: UAB @ MTSU
I don't know what everybody thinks the university can do. It's our crappy alumni and students at fault not our administrations. This is not a marketing issue.

We can only hope. I was there yesterday and even though I'm ecstatic over beating UAB (a worthy opponent); I am very angry over the no-shows. Some day, MT administration will figure out how to market this very exceptional product to the community. Until they do, old alums (from the1-A days) will still choose to stay in Nashville (for mediocre Vandy) or travel to Knoxville (to see the Vols) on GAME DAY!

I do not buy that we are losing fans to a sh*tty Vandy. Hell, we about outnumbered them in their own stadium in 2 out of the 3 games at Dudley.

And we probably will again. We can take comfort in the fact that we aren't Vanderbilt.

Losing to Memphis did not help. However, we would pull as many to games as Vandy does it we played an SEC schedule, if not more.

As a native Nashvillian who atttended all three Vandy games at Dudley Field; I can assure you that even though we had about 20,000 of the almost 40,000 that attended probably half of our own fans rooted for VANDY IN EVERY ONE OF THEIR OTHER GAMES, INCLUDING THE ANNUAL ut GAME. Most folks who grow up in the Music City are raised to love either UT or Vandy (unless your family is from somewhere outside of Tennessee). Thus, all native Nashvillians over about 40 probably have a large dose of Orange or Gold in their blood, unfortunately.

Our crowds are historically pathetic. I've almost come to not even be embarrassed by it anymore. We are what we are, I guess. I'll be there regardless.

Relax, man.

Unless you're UTEP or Marshall, it's a whole conference of glass houses.

Walking though the tail gates it seemed like it was going to be a good crowd but it seemed like a lot of them did not go into the game. I was disappointed.

Tailgate turnout was great, I feel like the tailgate and skip the game is a bigger problem than it used to be.

I was at all 3 games, and this is untrue.

Were you in Centennial Park when our thousands of fans took it over pregame (I have photos-- rode the World Famous Hillbilly Hilton down there) ?

So half of our 20k fans wearing bllue, were cheering for Vandy ?

Did you go to Louisville for the baseball regional when we outnumbered the Vandy fans 10 to 1 ?

Were you at Bridgestone Arena when we beat Vandy a couple of years ago ? They had what........ 150 fans, tops ?

I did not say half our fans cheered for Vandy at the MT game! Read the statement before you reply and you won't make a complete fool out of yourself. You bet I was at Bridgestone. The Bridgestone trip has nothing to do with my post. But, it's absolutely true that we way outnumbered the Dores in that venue.
What does the Louisville/Vandy Baseball Regional have to do with the price of Tea in China?

No freakin' way half of our own fans are rooting for Vandy. You are kidding yourself. Hell, Vandy is outnumbered by $EC fans in their OWN stadium. You a closet Dore ? LOL .

If anything, our fans follow the orange, not Candy.

I'm willing to bet we have more Bammers than Commode Odors. I can never recall seeing a Vandy hat or shirt at any of our games, unless we were playing them. And I haven't missed a home football game since 1999.

No question we have a large group of 'necks who wear orange (even to our games) and tabout half of our bunch follows the Vols, religiously. However, you are blind if you don't see that the vast majority of Vandy's pitiful fan base is sidewalk alumni living in Nashville who did not attend VU. Before they became an expensive elitist institution in the late 60's,they also attracted a ton of WW2 vets with the GI Bill. I know cause my own Dad (from a poor working class family) in Nashville attended Vandy as a result of the GI Bill. So did thousands of Nashvillians for the decade of the 50s. 60s and 70s!!!! Many of those GIs' kids like me graduated from MT; but during the 1AA era I can guarandamntee you a significant number of Nashville MT students had a choice for fan loyalty: UT or Vandy. Alabama was never in the equation for a real TENNESSEAN!

Funny. I grew up in Nashville too and was raised a Bama fan. Must not be a real TENNESSEAN.

Here's the thing with Vandy though. I always liked Vandy. Had season tickets to Vandy in football and basketball growing up. Went to sports camps there on several occasions. Even got recruited by Mewbourne (This is when I figured out he was the worst baseball coach in history. I pitched exactly three games in high school yet somehow that genius thought I'd make a great pitcher in college when I couldn't throw it into the ocean from the beach, but I digress...)

However, I attended the '01 Middle-Vandy game on a whim, and randomly bought an MT t-shirt that morning to wear to the game. I figured "Oh, why the hell not, I do go to school here."

The way I was treated at that game was worse than anything I've ever experienced (and I have been to Neyland, Tiger Stadium, Jordan-Hare wearing crimson.)

Long story short, that's when I realized that Vandy fans are one of two things: Entitled, elitist pricks or mouthbreathing sidewalk alums that are too dumb to realize that an actual Vandy grad wouldn't let them wash his car.
