Pre-realignment, the Big East was a family with an us-against-the-world mentality. Of course, Pitt and others were working behind our backs so things weren't perfect back then either.
IMHO thought it was more the Nova blockade and the Catholic-7 working against the Big East and what was that amount they rejected for media contract?
The Catholic schools were irrelevant. I was talking about Syracuse, Pitt, Cincinnati, UConn, Rutgers, USF, etc. Those fans supported each other and any criticism was usually just for fun.
Now it seems that if someone finds an article to mock another AAC school, they can't wait to post it.
The difference is not huge, but like I said, it is noticeable.

That's something that I've never understood.
The thought process that "I'll make my program look better by making others look worse" just doesn't make sense to me. Most folks here are wise enough to mostly understand the relative strength of the programs within the conference.

Tulsa used to be a top team in COnference USA. SMU had a nice rebirth for awhile and UCONN was in a BCS bowl not that long ago. Talk about bad timing for the league. Can these 3 turn it around or are they in the midst of a bad cycle that is going to last for a long time.
Aresco must be surprised as well. Talk about a bad time to crash and burn. Wow.
Tulsa bad coaching hire. Hired a HC with no experience. A coach by the way that has not gotten the job done anyway anyhow. He proceeded to hire a staff that has not even started to get the job done. There you go! One bad hire can crush a program. As other teams in this same conference well know.

The AAC does suck this year in football, but we are still front runners of the G5 along with MWC.
It will also be a down year in basketball.
Next year should be a lot better for both sports. These things happen.
