Question for those watching on TV.
As the end of the game drew near, in the last 1:25 minutes, Ball State started moving the ball downfield. I believe it was after Ball State got the first, first down after the kick off.

There was a play where the QB broke from the pocket and moved downfield to pass at the right side line in front of the Bronco bench. Sitting in the stands it appeared that the QB had gone beyond the line of scrimmage, and the line judge on the far side of the field threw a flag that landed in the middle of the field. As the play unfolded the receiver caught the ball and proceeded down the sideline for about a 20 yard gain. Two more flags were thrown in front of the Bronco bench when a Ball State player made a block in the back.

I counted three flags on the play, one in the middle of the field, and two in front of the Bronco bench.

The officals marked off a penalty for a block in the back, and Ball State ended up with a first down and five yards to go.

Those of us in my section in the stands were left wondering what about the third flag. Did the TV crews remark about a third flag on the play? Did it appear on TV that the QB had crossed the line of scrimmage before delivering the pass?

I'm just curious to know if my sight is failing me.

Proud to be a Bronco.

I thought he had crossed the line of scrimmage as well...but didn't have the volume on as someone was talking to me at the time.

I watched the last five minutes at a wedding on my phone, while being reminded how rude that is, thus had no volume either. I will say this though, that Watch ESPN app is the best app of all time. Incredible clarity, and is very reliable. Honestly not that much different than watching at home.

RE: Question for those watching on TV.
I went back and watched it again in ESPN replay. The QB for BSU was actually right ON the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball. The actual flag was a block in the back that occurred about the same place that the BSU WR was pushed out of bounds. I think one of the line judges threw a flag thinking that the QB was over the line of scrimmage, and in the meeting with the others officials they concurred that Milas was actually still behind the line... The block in the back was a spot foul, so the yardage marked off was still an advance for BSU...

side note... the announcers discussed that they thought maybe Milas was over the line when he threw it... didn't really go into much discussion once the ref's made the actual call on the field of a block in the back and no other infractions on the play.

I've watched a lot of WMU this year on my phone using the ESPN app and it does work great. Incredible picture.

I also thought the QB had crossed the line of scrimmage, but obviously the call was otherwise.

Heck, even if he was slightly over the line, MAC refs are way to chicken to kill the home teams drive.

I thought for sure they'd call pass interference when BSU was inside the 15 and winging it into the endzone. It's just what I expect from MAC officiating.

The replay official also called an Edwards TD a touchdown, even though it was clear in the replay and to the announcers that his elbow touched at the 1.

The rule is where the ball is not the player so there is some wiggle room in this rule.

There was some question as to whether his elbow hit before the ball crossed the plane of the goal line. He'd have probably punched it in on 4th down anyway.

RE: Question for those watching on TV.
Flush, thanks for the information. Did you notice if there was that "third flag" that I mentioned? The official in his announcement at the stadium did not refer to that flag, and I'd swear there was one thrown at the time. I do understand that any part of the QB's body in contact with the original line of scrimmage would count as not being a penalty. Our angle was not good from the seats we had, but the flag was a puzzle.

A marvelous game to attend, and perhaps the greatest comeback in Bronco history.

Always proud to be a Bronco.
