Wow, I hadn't even noticed. 6 of the current top 7 will be West Division teams next year.

Hopefully MT will make the jump into the 20k+ range soon. The UAB-MT game should be a pretty good draw, with it being a local rivalry and homecoming. Plus the BYU game which could be sold out (maybe).

I think you are just too used to being slammed for attendance issues. Truth is it does help the atmosphere to have fans in the stands, and enough of them to make some noise and be noticed. ODU is a good example. They pack their 20k stadium and it makes watching their games much more interesting than if they only had 5 or 10k there. So yes, we are all on the low side of FBS football attendance but there is low and then really low. Makes a noticeable difference.

The NCAA abolished this rule.

If they didn't Eastern Michigan would have been kicked out a long time ago in FBS with their average 5k attendance.....

Disappointed in WKU's attendance this season, but I am afraid its only going to get worse with 3 Nov. games......Schedule didn't do us any favors this season with 0 Sept warm weather games and the one we did have was on a Fri. night...People in BG have a ton of excuses why they cannot attend any games and this seasons home schedule certainly did not help...

I get it, people are busy(I am myself with 2 small kids), however we just do not have a large enough hardcore fan base right now built up to get anywhere near where we need to be attend. wise....The casual fans that do attend almost always leave disappointed because we seem to cannot win at home, after a loss they will not be back....Its been this way since we started FBS in 2008, we have a very mediocre home record as we always seems to play better on the road....Does not make sense and I wonder if any other programs are like this?

So weird to expect to lose at home but have hope on the road...Does not make any sense, was hoping after a conf. change maybe we could reverse this and what do we do, proceed to give another game away at home to UAB.....Its extremely frustrating and hard to build a fan base if you cannot win at home.....

The buzz around BG for football has also been severely lacking this season as well despite a new conf...Seems like when Petrino left, all the buzz around the program went with him....I for one still have faith in our HC now, but we still have a long way to go to build our fan base...

So discouraging to see these numbers. Less than 20k average attendance is absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

By Bammers, yes. Have had years of it. Got tired of it over a decade ago. I can't be "slammed" by anyone in this conference though. LOL

You ever sat in a 100K full stadium on gameday? I have. It makes all this rooster strutting over 10-20K seem pretty damn silly.

When the next G5 conference shake-up occurs circa '17...the west teams (all of whom have better attendance (historically and currently) than the East, save Marshall and the eventual ODU riverside stadium), will find a more geographic and more football loving conference; leaving the poorly attending east teams behind. I hope the east will find like minded and regionally comparative schools for the next conference iteration. Regional cohesiveness and shorter travel distances will hopefully raise all boats as the tide comes in.

When we played at Southern Miss, I thought ya'll's crowd was pretty loud. I was certainly impressed by the size of the crowd:noise ratio. Also, a lot of the players and I (I'm a manager) were laughing at your student section's insults. I can definitely see how the rock is an awesome place to play when ya'll are good.

Attendance really has nothing to do with it (See: Tulane, SMU, Tulsa)

Nope. I've sat in Camp Randall in Madison packed with just over 80k. Great atmosphere. I've also sat in the Sun Bowl for a Miner game with over 45k. Also electric because so few empty seats. A full 30k stadium that is rocking creates a great atmosphere too. Hopefully striving for more butts in the seats is what we all want and not to just be satisfied with 1/2 full/empty stadiums.

The 20K at the North Texas game made some noise. It's amazing how loud a crowd can cheer when the team is doing good things.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone slammed UAB in this thread over attendance. The same goes for that other thread about rankings. Yet you're the first one in both threads who throws 03-hissyfit over attendance threads. Is it claustrophobia?

Struttin????

I think you missed the point. But sounds like more like a complex.

Guess we should be happy with 19K in our stands.

OK UTEP guys. Since you're having some trouble, I'll try and simplify it:

Take a 100 point grading scale...

What is a grade of 100?

"A+" Right? Yay! Mom gonna bake me some chocolate chip cookies when I get home!

What is a grade of 31?

Well that's just an "F", isn't it...

What about an 11?

Still an "F". Oh?! "F-"! <---God in heaven, are we really making a distinction with the "minus"? Must distinguish amongst the Baka Rangers LOL

What we've done here is made an analogy... 100Kish being the capacity of say a Bryant-Denny Stadium, Neyland, Big House, etc. then following...
___________

We are all in the same conference. We are all G5. We all have similar attendance. We all have similar attendance issues (I've read your FN boards!). In the land of the blind the one-eyed aren't kings, they are apparently just too stupid to know they are half-blind and lack depth perception...

In other news: Do you think if any of the teams in our conference (including your own; insert your own here) could get more people to the games that they would choose not to?

I think what anime is trying to say is that in the grand scheme of football attendance it doesnt matter much if there are 20,000 fans in a stadium or 30,000. we are still going to crapped on by the "big boys"

I disagree. 30k is getting to the point of respectability. 20k is at the point where you have some home, anything less than 20k is proof you are not ready for FBS football (in terms of fan base.)

And with "big boys" enough, the last thing we need are more little men wannabees destroying our sense of community.

I thought that was the whole purpose of the AAC. To offload that baggage. 05-stirthepot
