Memphis Lands Prestigious Research Grant
A significant step towards the goal of recognition as a top tier metropolitan research university was taken yesterday with the announcement that UofM received a $10.9 million biomedical research grant from the National Institutes of Health. The research is related to wearable mobile devices and sensors used to collect large amounts of health data. Among the 11 other universities which will collaborate with Memphis are UCLA, Rice, Northwestern, Michigan, Ohio State, UMass and Georgia Tech.

Good get! However, any kind of NIH grant should be considered "prestigious" the way biomedical research funded nowadays.

Nice, I have cut my cell phone to ear use by 1/2 with blue tooth technology. The dangers are real.

Congrats. After all that's what college is all about. Sports are just a marketing tool.

Don't sell Memphis short.

Back when the Carnegie Foundation issued ratings, Memphis was rated a Carnegie level 1 research institution, along with Vandy and UTK in Tennessee.
