99.99999% of ECU basketball fans are humble about our team, know we're going to take some heavy lumps this season in the American... but we're also excited about the future.
So where have I said anything unhumble? Saying a bunch of 180+ teams like Temple, ECU, UCF, USF, Tulane etc last year that oh BTW like Temple lost a bunch isn't talking up ECU last I checked or declaring us king shat.
Quote:We all know our program has no history to speak of. We also know we're coming into a league with a bunch of teams that have LOADS of basketball tradition.
and so what. Is Ricky Stokes coaching us? Is John Cheany and Phi Slama Jama going to be suiting up this year? Seriously. All I friggen said is that Temple and Houston don't look like the are on the same tier of NCAA/NIT teams in this conference. If anything they look far more like ECU if not worse this preseason. I'm not the only one that thinks this, I've seen several others ranked Temple behind us including Jerry Palm just on the link on this thread.

When the BE was still intact, they were football only.
Guess there was a reason for that, lol.
I have nothing against ECU, just the one poster spouting off and bad-mouthing Temple.
Agreed. Trolling Temple basketball is ridiculous.
I'm not trolling anything about their history. I'm also not bowing down to a sucky ass team from last year that looks no better than ours going into this year. That's what you can't seem to comprehend.

Sure thing but, the only problem is access to said bases. I've tricked you by adding a grammar checker to the access panel. There's absolutely no way you can access the bases now.

Somebody in this thread needs to go to message board school. Maybe we can all chip in and send him.

My favorite part is how SJ misspells John Chaney's name a different way each time.

What I hope you win a ton of games especially OOC, that's better for ECU. The AAC doesn't need a bad Temple like you were last year losing to UAB crap.

Maybe if many or any of the players on your team today were actually playing key roles on those teams, and not the same players playing major roles on a 9 win team I could see the relevance.
Quote:because in his words its “ancient history”. He uses the example of how the mighty USM football program fell so fast, failing to mention that the coaching change and poor recruiting had a lot to do with that.
I could give you plenty of basketball coaches and programs that bombed hard too. How about Blaine Taylor at ODU to start?
Quote:Coach Dunphy just finished his 25th season as a head coach, 8th at Temple, and in 25 seasons only had a losing record 6 times. He’s won over 470 games, 10 Ivy League titles, 2 A10 titles, won the A10 tournament 3 times and made the NCAA Tournament 15 times. Add in the fact that just this week Temple received a verbal commitment from its 3rd 4 star recruit for next season, what some may argue is one of Temples best recruiting classes ever, add in he was voted last year as the most underrated coach in college basketball by his peers and while Temple may be challenged to win 20+ games this season based on the OOC schedule they face (one of if not the toughest in the AAC) everyone associated with Temple basketball is pretty comfortable the slid is over.
Even all time great coaches like Bob Knight usually start to lose it in their mid 60's even with 4 star recruits. Name all the coaches that actually retired on top and I'll name you dozens more than were fired despite all the great past accomplishments.
Quote:SJ still hasn’t backed up his claim that ECU has a better chance at making the NCAA Tournament this season then Temple, hence will finish ahead of them in the standing and rankings.
Perhaps Temple does but I only expect it to be marginally better hence why I put them on the same tier. I don't think either of our programs have to worry about an NCAA in March That was the whole point.

When you have to call the grammar police on a message board you've clearly already lost whatever argument you were trying to win. Keep that in mind next time you see someone getting hammered. It never fails.

..wait I thought I was trolling UConn earlier and hated them. Gezzus Christ. Can't I have an informed opinion about this conference without it being some sort of I hate someone or something. Good grief. I want you all to win.
Here
#1 UCONN, Memphis, Cincy Temple, SMU, Houston all tied for first
..
...whoever is left
..
#11 ECU
How's that. Feel better. Everyone gets a trophy and everyone is a predicted NCAA team here in the preseason. We don't won't any hurt feelings from these sensitive nannies.

Well...since UCONN is the defending champion and the new season hasn't started yet....yup, I would say UCONN is still number 1.
Looks like SJ finally gets it.

Hmmm…. Maybe I missed something. Last season in the Charleston Classic, you know that tournament, that’s the one without the D2 schools.
Temple 87
UAB 66
That’s the same UAB team ECU finished behind in the CUSA standings correct?

The actual Temple-ECU basketball game thread should be lively, at least until tipoff.

No problem at all, we all know ECU fans are some of the best fans in this conference, on this board, and on the complete college athletics landscape.
For every sport that any of us excel in, there's another sport that we need to work on....all of us.
Additionally, while the poster that's causing most of us grief here is more "unique" than most; most of us have our own "unique" posters. We're all much more alike than we are different.

Wow I am hoping Temple runs the score up on ECU now. Even shoot a 3 at the buzzard of the second half and make it being up 30.

SJ will you get mad if Memphis fans start hyping Austin Nichols up and you star comparing the PER with some random ECU player?

I don't see Temple running up the score on ECU. Temple seems more like a defensive minded team rather than an offensive minded team.

They can when those 3 balls are dropping. Plus ECU is 2 years away from Temple's level
