Cougars receiver out for season
And, it just gets better...

University of Houston receiver Daniel Spencer will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, coach Tony Levine said Wednesday, another blow for an already struggling offense.

Spencer, the Cougars' second-leading receiver, was injured during a non-contact play in practice Tuesday.

"He's the heart and soul of our offense," Levine said. "He's been a leader for us and he'll certainly be missed."

Wayne Beadle will replace Spencer at the 'H' inside receiver spot.

I like Daniel Spencer, he goes out and performs and never complains, but for Levine to label Spencer as the heart and soul for this offense, I'm not so sure about that.

He's a senior. He's a team captain. He leads the team in receiving and scoring (except for the kicker). He is our best big play threat, as demonstrated by his hail mary catch vs. BYU.

If he's not the heart and soul of the offense, then who the hell is?

on the field performance aside he was clearly the leader and vocal captain of the offense

(just watch 10 secs into the reels, no need to watch the entire thing)
he was clearly the vocal leader and heart of the offense from a leadership standpoint last year and this year

a small silver lining to this and what im hoping for is that one of the quarterback takes this negative and uses this as a postive to propel themselves to leadership a postilion and gets the team to rally behind them

It's gotta be tough for him right now, but he is maintaining a positive attitude on his social media sites. Too bad his career is over, he has been a very good WR for my Coogs.
