We showed great toughness in the second half after being dominated by a team with everything to win and nothing to lose. I have seen the EXACT same thing as a Pirate fan for 40+ years. Good teams find a way to weather that storm and win. That is what happened tonight. Hats off to the USF staff. My guess is with the week off they scripted a ton of plays that got them them the first half lead. They ran out of scripts.

At the beginning of the season I said THIS was the one conference game that I wanted to win over any other. USF has OWNED our asses. Glad to get that monkey off our backs!!

I have to say....WT has that program on the right track. He is a fine coach. USF will be a tough nut to crack next season.

IMO, what really changed the momentum was the second drive of the second half when USF moved the ball into ECU's 20 yard line and then proceeded to take 30 yards of penalties and got nothing from that drive. That drive unsettled the offense and it never got back the nice rhythm it had going most of the game. ECU then started handing the ball to Allen and won the game. Nice adjustment.....and while Not your typical ECU victory....these are the kind of adversity games that good teams win and pay dividends down the stretch.

For USF...it was a good stretch game performance and sooner or later these young men are going to win that signature victory game for CWT.

I agree with everything you've stated. I was impressed with your O line more so than any team we've played and I'm including South Carolina in that list. At this time, you just don't have the skill players that you need to seriously contend.

I'm pretty sure that Taggert will have that fixed sooner rather than later.

I think one of your penalties on that drive was a motion violation, which makes me wonder why you OC calls so much motion stuff with so many young players. That stuff was confusing your own guys in the second half more than it was confusing the Pirates.

The motion is part of the offense.

Yes I realize that, but with so many young guys it seems like it could be simplified when they cross midfield.

That is a common question down here but its MUCH better than last year as we could barely run a play without a penalty and excruciatingly painful to watch after watching Grothe and Daniels execute the spread offense for 7 years.

Mike White got rattled for most of the second half and started rushing snaps and his throws. If could play like he did in the first half USF has a guy that can lead them as a junior and senior, however he needs to calm down which is hopefully something that will get better with experience.

Ive seen this dozens of times. i have to believe that WT scripted a lot of plays for White in the off week. They ran them flawlessly. Nothing at all wrong with doing that...but...you run out of them. Great performance by USF non the less. They came in fired up and my hat is off to them. They played very hard and the big WR is a baller. We will see him no doubt in the NFL.

One over looked stat from tonight ECU's Rush D. Allowed just 93 yards rushing.

My guess without looking?...mostly all in the first half. Rick Smith deserved the game ball tonight. He made some great D adjustments at the half. When ECU has the ball? We score a lot. Tonight USF kept it away from us in the first half by controlling the ball and running the clock. Second half?...not so much. Rick dialed up the D scheme that made the difference.

Didn't watch a snap of the game, first one I haven't at least seen part of in years, but proud of the guys winning a game that a year or so ago they would have let slip away. That's two games ECU has muddled through, better straighten things out or Temple will be more than ECU can handle.

What you missed is South Florida's defense limiting ECU in the first half. So far, this year, ECU has scored quickly and the opposing teams have had to play catch-up. South Carolina limited ECU to field goals to survive the first quarter. USF only let ECU have one touch down.

ECU ran the ball. Many runs were 9 yards a carry. We did that until the second half when the offense found a rhythm.

ECU's defense was exposed. USF dropped a lot of passes when the receiver was wide open.

This is a great win for ECU. Every week, the game will become more interesting.

RE: East Carolina vs South Florida
The one difference in this years offense vs years past is our running game. Who would have ever thought that we would have more rushing yards than USF and they would have more passing yards. I give USF props, they had a good game plan on defense and executed it and limited our big plays in the passing game. Im still concerned about the pass defense even though we made some good plays at times, just way too many wide open recievers. We over came adversity on several occasions and that shows the strength that this years team has. USF is close so dont get down on your program. Keep up the support and I cant wait to see yall play in greenville.
