That's a little bit underwhelming when some of your fans were saying that Auburn was coming to town.

So the "Backyard Brawl" returns to the state of West Virginia........but this time its a few more hours south of Morgantown in Huntington, WV instead.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

To say the least.

Should piss some WVU fans off though... so that's nice.

I'd say that's a very good "home and away" series for the Herd!

I think it's a great series. Easy travel. Beatable ACC team. Potential for some Pitt fans to make the trip to Huntington. What's the downside?

It's what our fans have asked for. Regional, winnable games against "power" conference teams. Good series.

2016 Schedule- Louisville and Akron at home, Pitt away, with one left to fill.

2020 Schedule- ECU and Ohio on the road, Pitt at home with one left to fill.

I really like the shape our OOC scheduling is taking.

Very happy with it. Would like to see Marshall and Maryland play again in the future at some point as well.

This may not even be the big announcement.

2015 Full
2016 Need 1 Game (IAA and have 7 home games, or another IA game away)
2017 Need 1 Game (IAA games would make 7 home games)
2018 Need 2 Games
2019 Need 3 Games
2020 Need 1 Game
2021 Need 2 Games
2022 Need 3 Games
2023 Need 4 Games

From what I understand Hamrick as been trying to fill our schedule up till 2021.

In the other thread talking about who it would be on the big announcement I said Id love to have a game with Pitt. Easy to get to and we should take a ton of people to Heinz Field.

This should also p**s a ton of people off here. Pitt's AD no more than a year ago said he didn't have any interest in playing at the Who again. I guess he has no problem playing in WV, just not northern WV.

RE: Marshall Home and Home with Pitt
Yea, this is shaping up to be the exact type of OOC scheduling I've always wanted us to go for. Back when we were rebuilding, I was hoping for the following formula:

1 low-tier P5 program (think UVA, Pitt, Purdue, Kentucky, etc.)
1 or 2 historical MAC rivals (Ohio, Miami OH, Toledo, etc.)
1 FCS team

Now that we're turning some heads, I think it needs to shift some to this:

2 mid-low-tier P5 programs (same as before, with more respectable programs included, such as VT, NC State, Louisville, UNC, etc.)
1 historical MAC rival (Ohio)
1 other semi-rival (East Carolina, Appalachian State, UCF)

2016 is basically exactly this formula so far, with one game left to be scheduled. I would love to see another home-and-home with a P5 signed for a 2017 home game.

That about sums it up. Good scheduling move, and only about a 5 (?)hour drive via I79.

No doubt. I'm happy it's a close game to travel too but acting like its a powerhouse program...

It POed 65% of the state. The Who boards are crying like a baby.

Pitt will not play the Who in any sport. Its the same reason they don't have former BE rivals Boston College and Miami on the schedule...Fan behavior. And I'll believe it when I see VA Tech roll into the Hole in 2021.

Pitt doesn't really get that response from me but this is a good series

The downside? Four years between games. Wouldn't surprise me if Pitt buy out that game in 2020.

If you have trouble getting to the endzone at Heinz, you could always try breaking the field goal record. ODU alumnus Jarod Brown holds the record at 54 yards I believe.

Pitt doesn't buy out games, no reason to with their home attendance. They have played at a lot of the MAC schools. The only way they don't make the return is if the P5 just legislate no more G5 games.

I might be way off, but I think the people he may have been referring to are WVU fans. Pitt being thier biggest rival with the Backyard Brawl a former annual event most likely made them say something stronger than "Wow". Pitt has refused to play WVU due to fan behavior. I think this is a good game for us. It is also a big slap in the face to our poor, starving northern friends.
