I think Fleck will fire up the troops, and let them know that if they want to party in the locker room -- you better win this F'ing game, MEN!

So wait. We LOST to Toledo 20-19. Coincidence? I think not, in MACtion-land. Maybe THIS game will give us our "extra point", to make it 21-19 all-time vs BSU. :)

BSU has strength in the skill positions in RB Edwards, WR Jordan Williams and WR Kevon Mabon. Problem is, they have no way of getting the WR's the ball right now.

I would be pretty happy to score in the 20's.

However, I've watched BSU several times now and their offense is just plain bad. If they score 4 TDs on our defense, we've taken a step backwards. While Edwards is a load, it is OL problems/inexperience that is the reason for his lack of productivity.

You guys are reminding me of Minnesota's backup a couple years ago.

Yep, I was at that game. 03-weeping

Have to be careful of fresh QBs that enter the game's spotlight pumped up on adrenaline, coupled with defenses that might "relax" a bit because he's a newbie. Recipe for disaster.

Still had a chance for a game-winning drive in the final few minutes but it ended in an INT. Similar to the Purdue bowl game.

Our all-time record against next week's opponent BGSU is 17-31-3. Therefore, we should win against BSU 31 to 17 (to 3).

Or ZT will finish 17 of 31 with 3 touchdowns?

I am worried about Mabon, he is underrated in my opinion. He gets a lot of long catches. I hope Celiscar shadows him most of the game.

I worry if this game is close at halftime. Fleck has proven quite convincingly that he has no clue how to make halftime adjustments.

I think that'll be it. However, I would expect a bit better passing % against BGSU, since they have no D. But hey, 3 passing TDs -- I'll take that. Against BGSU, Franklin will probably have had a couple himself.

I think he's learning, and I think he realizes that he needs to focus more on that. He knows how/when to call a TO like he did against VT to slow things down and adjust at one point. Hopefully he sees 2H that way, too this time. Less than 48 hours!!

His halftime adjustments this year have been fine.

We had so little depth last year that the half time adjustment was to not be totally gassed by the 4th quarter.

Halftime adjustments?

Against Purdue, we had a 9-play, 75-yard drive that lasted the first 5 minutes of the third quarter and brought the game to within 2 pts. Our next couple of scores were 7-play and 12-play drives. The 2nd half score was 20-20. Our defense couldn't get stops. We lost this game in the 2nd quarter.

We pretty much dominated at Idaho and didn't need to make any major halftime adjustments. Even then, we opened up the 2nd half with a 13-play, 63-yard drive that lasted 7 minutes and gave us a 38-19 lead. Game was basically over at that point.

We outscored (and fully dominated) Murray St. 21-7 in the second half. This game was never in question.

Virginia Tech was a different beast. But even then, we opened up the 2nd half with a 52-yard drive (capped off the drive with a crucial missed FG). I wouldn't say lack of halftime adjustments were the issue. We lost that game in the first 3 minutes of the first quarter... to our credit, we still hung in there in a pretty tough environment despite all of the early miscues.

Last week, we were leading 7-0 against Toledo at the half. We held the MAC's highest scoring offense to ZERO points. Why make any significant halftime adjustments? What adjustments needed to be made?

Nice analysis. I'd say the Toledo situation is the toughest, because you need to think in terms of responding to the adjustment the other team will make. You know Toledo is going to change things up, so you have to respond to what they might do different, not what they did in the first half.

A little bit psychic in that respect.

I agree.

Toledo just went back to being themselves and ran it down our throats. I thought we still defended them well, but it was only a matter of time until they were going to wake up. I thought where we lost that game was not being able to punch it in the end zone and settling for FG attempts.

No, actually the Rockets came out after halftime and hit their first couple of passes for 45 yds. Ended up throwing the FB almost 20 times in the 2nd half compared to 8 times in the first. It was a difference of about 155 yds to 28 yds. Helped to open up the running game.

This really feels like our biggest game of the year. Huge swing game for our season.

Win, and go to 3-3, 1-1 in the conference and bowl eligibility becomes a real possibility. Lose, and drop to 2-4, 0-2 in the conference, and we lose some of that early season mojo.

Need to get off to a good early start and punch it into the endzone when we are deep in BSU territory. Do not leave it up to special teams.
