RE: Bowl Eligible?
In all seriousness...think about this for a minute...

Remaining schedule:
@ Ball State
@ Bowling Green
Ohio
@ Miami
Eastern Michigan
@ Central Michigan
Northern Illinois

We can definitely win 4 of those games, to reach bowl eligibility. I doubt we would go to a bowl game at 6 wins, but we are capable of reaching eligibility. The MAC is way down this year. Toledo is arguably the MACs best team right now and we took them to OT.

I agree. We definitely could have gone 3-9 last year, instead of 1-11 though too. I would put the odds at 40/60, assuming no notable injuries on our side or opponent's side, for us to reach .500.

Arguably, yes. I think us taking them to OT and us shooting ourselves in the foot (with a place-kicker) to lose kind of brings Toledo down a notch though, too. They were not impressive against Cinci (except 3rd Q), nor Missouri (but showed fight that an decent mid-major would do)... but most impressive with CMU at home, but bad against us on the road to negate that. I wouldn't put Toledo over NIU (yet?), because of that.

Is it possible to go 5-2 through that (@CMU, NIU losses only)? Yes. Is it going to happen? I give it, going 5-3 overall (or better), a 20% chance.
* 7-1 : 2% chance
* 6-2 : 5% chance
* 5-3 : 13% chance
* 4-4 : 20% chance
* 3-5 : 55% chance
* 2-6 : 4% chance
* 1-7 : 1% chance

Obviously this will fluxuate, depending on how we play @BSU. :)

If we play to our POTENTIAL, game in, game out, w/o silly mistakes or missed should-make FGs (which I can't Expect)? Yeah, we should go 5-3 overall in our conference.

RE: Bowl Eligible?
Well, chances of going 3-3 to be bowl eligible the rest of the way -- but would lead to us very possibly not going bowling (but making WMU on the road to Look Out 2015)?

- @BGSU (35%) : BGSU's O is going to roll over us. BUT, they have little D, so our O will light up the scoreboard too. Another BGSU pinball machine game? Possibly. We're likely not there yet tho. It's not a home with Tim Hiller making his debut against BGSU where we all said "Holy Toled--err, Bowling Green! We're good now!"

- Ohio (65%) : Ohio has a bad O. That's just real. Solich isn't a great coach to command an O. BUT, their D is good. Very good. Better than many B1G teams. But their O is SO bad. It's at home. Homecoming.... PJ should get this one going.

- @Miami (60%) : Miami is dangerous (to us). Their D isn't great, their O is skitzo. They gave Marshall their closest game (@Miami) -- yet, they lose to a D1AA. Oh, they're finding themselves. Don't count this as a win, looking ahead.

- EMU (75%) : I have to say this -- it's in our house, and we're pissed. EMU hurt us, hurt Cubit (and folks know I'm not a fan of him) -- we're going to lay it down to them.

- @CMU (35%) : Expect to lose this, but if we're on the DL and CMU's on the up-swing, there could be some surprise rivalry "F U" thing. But I don't see that situation playing out -- they won't overlook us, nor will we. But in Mt Pleasant, I can't expect us to GET the win, despite last year we should have. Of course, there was less of criminal record on CMU's part.

- NIU (40%) : NIU should get back on track at least 2-3 weeks before this. If McIntosh is good off his injury as QB, as Hare has been hairless as their starter despite the good 2nd half against NW, and leading NIU against UNLV around that time -- they'll be churning through. This could be a game for NIU to "come back" to win the West. This one's the most up in the air, IMO.

= 3.10W (.35+.65+.60+.75+.35+.40)

So yes, *at this point* -- I would expect 6-6. But no bowl.

Now, these things change week-to-week. If we go 7-5 : Look out. We'll very likely go bowling.

2015 has games on the road against Georgia Southern, Ohio State, and home against Michigan State. In conference they will travel to both Toledo and Northern Illinois.

I don't like that schedule at all as one that will generate a season of 8 wins or more. We will still be freshmen, RS freshmen and sophomore heavy.

There isn't a game remaining we can't will, nor one we can't lose. One thing I like is that I believe our guys will stay motivated till the last down in the last game. I'm not sure that will be true with our opponents if they have been struggling. That could be a difference maker for a game or two. This team is fun to watch though. Also frustrating at times, but that has always been the case, even during some of our best seasons..

I watched some of the NIU and CMU game last night. In spite of Rawls running wild, I didn't think NIU had a terrible defense. Their problem is the they go three and out so quickly the defense is never off the field. On the other hand, their offense is terrible.

Their QB is not good. Very inaccurate, and not overly mobile. Wouldn't be surprised if Maddie starts next week. That alone will change their look. He can't throw either, but he adds the run to the arsenal. Not much in their receiving corps, and Stingley, while a load to tackle, isn't very explosive. Barring health issues, Toledo will light them up at home with or without a defense. NIU's problem is they can't put points on the board. They put up 17 on Kent, and the next week UMass but 47 on Kent.

He Ran all over them so much, I would have to say NIU's Run D went down a couple notches -- enough to make their D not good. UNLV came roaring back against them, and UNLV kinda sucks.

But no, I don't think NIU has a terrible D. It can step up and stop ya. But if you play your cards right w/ a decent O, you'll get a good amount of yards in the end -- a ton if you stop their O -- which is their problem now.

Quote:Their problem is the they go three and out so quickly the defense is never off the field. On the other hand, their offense is terrible.

Yep. Their starter McIntosh went out early in the game against NW (hence 0 points 1st half). Hare did well 2nd half .... but he's not good. He's gone backwards, hence the O, and the team. Yes, their O fuels their okay D that can be good to become not so great at all.

Carey was the OC for NIU before. He has to fix this -- no excuses. He's got 3 viable QBs. Good news for NIU though -- McIntosh is getting off the "DL". He may start again this weekend, with Maddie filling in to cover for him getting used to things.
