a good portion of that was from the fcs..and you are missing the point.. about the quality of passing offense and the amount of passing they do per game

that is like stoping smu and wazzu from running to less than 2 yards a carry and trying to justify that as a reason you have a good rush defense..ignoring they are horrific running teams

navy doesnt pass, delaware state was just a bad team, vandy is not only a run first but didnt have a decent qb on roster when they played you and tried 4 different qbs and uconn is just as bad at throwing
here are all their respective passing ranking vandy 117, navy 126, uconn 104..100% of your remaining schedule is top 90..tulsa is 31

im just simpling noting that temple couldnt stop a forward pass last year to save its life (ranked 121 in pass defense)..front loading your schedule with teams that cant pass, doesnt necessarily mean you have improved on pass defense (vice versa isnt true either) why i said tulsa will tell us alot about temple

I'm a casual fan of Temple and most likely you are as well so I don't know the team intimately except when I research when questions arise in my mind.

That said, quoting last years stats in a very young college team is not useful. College sees heavy turnover and vast maturity of players from years to year. All positions from QBs to DBs mature from just leaving HS to sophomore in college. That's like an eternity to some.

Back to INTs. Some DBs would catch a cold before they'd catch an INT. It shows that the DBs have obvious instincts and reactions that they may not have had a year ago.

Looking at the first 4 games last year Temple played Idaho and Fordham losing to both of them giving up 56 points in the 2 games. Even more interesting, Temple had ZERO interceptions against those 2 juggernaut teams while giving up over 300 yards to each team.

And you don't see a vast improvement?

idaho was a top 60 passing team and towson was a great passing team...statistically both were dramatically better passing teams than any youve faced this year... and dropping ints wasnt the problem last year but getting burnt in coverage,

but if you temple fans want to believe you have an improved pass defense, then who am i too doubt...i never said they werent improved just it was still in the air and a question mark till i saw them versus a better passing team but if you dont need that that is fine

Another thing you need to realize is the defensive line is much better. Getting a rush and hurrying the passer can do wonders for your secondary's improvement. Vandy put up 15 for 25 and 225 yards passing against S. Carolina, so I would not say we faced zilch as far as passing teams. UCONN's QBs went 22/38 for 242 yards against Boise State. I can assure you that pass rush made a big difference when Temple played Vandy and UCONN. Watch the games again. Then watch last year. You'll get a better appreciation.

BTW, looking forward to Temple v. Houston.

Good point about help from the D-line. An improved offense under Walker is keeping the defense fresher then last year as well.

This conference could be really special with the markets it's in. Imagine if Temple, Memphis, Cincy, etc all could truly "own" their markets with consistent sell outs.

Your right, ECU is a joke.

I would like to thank all of ya'll(not really ya'll) for letting ECU in this conference of powerhouse football teams. ECU should be humbled to be in hot bed of talent. Hopefully ECU can live up to the standards of the AAC. Maybe one year we can have more P5 wins than the entire conference.

Until that day we should just sit in the back seat while everyone else leads the bus for this conference.

Man, some of you ECU fans be touchy, lol. He didn't say ECU was a joke. Nothing like that. He simply said some of you act like you're the only football team in the conference.

You look like the best so far, but conference play is just starting.

With only 3 of the 44 conference games played...it's a little premature to make a 1, 2 or 3. Bottom 3 teams is quite easy to do though.

This is a meaningless observation. These are not the same players.

Different front four. Completely overhauled secondary. One corner graduated and the other lost his job. One safety a juco transfer. Most of the starters who do return were pure freshman last year. I see three of the same starters below, including Matakevich who would start for just about anyone.

Even if you build an on-campus stadium, I don't think there will be enough space for t-shirt fans to drive into the city and park (and, in some cases, tailgate). Plus, given Temple's location, getting in and out would be a problem. Lincoln Financial Field resolves those issues. Temple just needs to win, especially against Penn State.

We have built new parking garages, and currently have 9 on campus. No idea how many spaces. Assuming a conservative number of fans take the train and subway, it shouldn't be an issue at all.

If Georgia Tech can do it, so can we.

ill first point out that it dont care like i said if you dont think its an issue its not an issue

secondly their is a thing called the internet...where you can look things up like depth chart and dont have to take what people say on message boards as fact..

both starting safeties were on the team last year and Jihaad Pretlow was a starter last year. and tavon young was the starter both last year and this year at cb , so 3/4th of your starting secondary are returning and the 4th is a freshmen..the junior college guy is a backup

third ill throw something out there that shows the very flawed logic you have...lets pretend everything you said is true...here a comparison..lets pretend a team has the worst run game or close the previous year, gets some new RB's maybe Oline, and then play 3 of the nations worst run defenses to start the season and the new line/rbs do good...
is it a meaningless observation to point out the quality of run defense and to state your previous struggles when trying to evalaute the team, and nothing that their hasnt been enough data to evaluate

its still the same coaches, same development methods, same system, same environment, same playcalling.... a few faces changes doesnt change any of that (despite the fact their werent that many changed faces)

ps im just debating to debate, it doesnt bother me, i never said the defense wasnt improved, and if you guys want to believe it has so be it..

No, the 'JUCO guy', Alex Wells got hurt versus Vandy, which is why Hayes is starting instead of him. Tavon Young only started half of the games last year.

You're just not listening.

Johnson and Roby started last year. They went to Young a few times and back to Johnson (for some dumb reason). Pretlow was not supposed to start as was pointed out. And like I said, he was a green freshman, like many on the defense. But the real issue was no pressure up front last year, none, zip. This year we've blown up offensive lines, including Vandy's veteran line. It's not the same players.

A team like Cincy or ECU will probably do some heavy damage but nothing like the joke of a defense we had last year.

Nope again. The 'other JUCO guy' was Shahid Lovett who has been banged up and moved to spur (LB/S hybrid) Lucas was a safety moved to CB.

I’ve got to agree here. On the outside the Linc looks like it has a lot of advantages (close proximity to campus, lots of amenities, parking and lots of tailgate room). However for every advantage they are offset by a major disadvantage, and that’s the size of Lincoln Financial Field which creates a lack of atmosphere that is immediately apparent as soon as you walk inside.

Even a good crowd for a Temple football game, say 30,000, wont fill the lower bowl of the 70,000 seat Linc so its just so difficult to get any juice or buzz going in the stadium.

Second disadvantage is branding, because the Eagles are allowing Temple to use the stadium the branding inside LFF is extremely limited. It’s very rare to see the end zones painted for a Temple game let alone the Temple “T” at midfield. It never has the feel of a college game.

Third thing is it’s just too easy for people to get a ticket for the game so it’s almost impossible to create any advanced demand for the product. There is no incentive to buy season tickets when people can get lower level seats the week of the game at a discounted price, or at worst face value.

I believe everyone involved with Temple football, from the university president on down knows a 35,000 seat expandable on campus stadium is a requirement to keep the program moving forward, I think they are waiting for the timing to be right (Temple to finish 6-6 or better with a bowl appearance) to make the announcement and commitment.
