Defensive Player of the Week: Western Michigan DB Ronald Zamort
Western Michigan junior defensive back Ronald Zamort (Delray Beach, Fla.) had three tackles, one interception for 39 yards, one pass break up and two passes defensed in a 35-17 loss at Virginia Tech. Zamort picked off a Michael Webber pass and returned it 39 yards to the Virginia Tech three yard line to help set up Western Michigan's first touchdown in the 35-17 loss at Virginia Tech. The interception was his second of the season and the second time a turnover created by him has led directly to a touchdown. Zamort also had a pass break up to go with his three tackles. After the two passes defended in the game it brought his season total to eight, best in the MAC and tied for third-best in the country.
