But, as noted by the three missed kicks in that game's first half, the execution has been sloppy all year and the team has hardly looked fully prepared or like a world beater. Again, it's not too early to exclude the possibility, was the team not a dumpster fire in 2012 despite 5 wins?
I never thought you the negative nancy like most of our fan base... You are acting like we caught luck breaks, all the turnovers in the game were taken and not given, the pass was jumped and batted by our DLine, mcdonalds grabbed the guy running and yanked out the fumble, and the last interception the guy caught it but Stewart just took it from him..
I hate that argument, "if not for turnovers" this and this would have happened, to me that is the equivalent of someone saying if hill (byu'sqb) wasn't scrambling for yards for them they wouldn't have won.. That's a ridiculous argument as that is part of their game.. Turnovers are part of ours, McDonald has had a turnover in 8 consecutive games, Stewart lead the nation in forcing turnovers and since Gibbs took over both last year and this year we've been top 2 in the nation in creating turnovers
2) both second quarter turnovers weren't scoop and scores, our offense had half a field to work, on both. stop trying to portray it like they were running us off the field, then somehow bubbled a snap at their own ten and we picked it up and ran it in twice on some pure luck sequence.
3) if it was a sure blowout, they should have had no problem coming back to run us off the second half, and I watched the second half and that's not what I saw..
4) I guess we are going to exclude all the lucky breaks they got? The dropped wide open td, the PI call on ambles that took away a different TD that could have easily gone either way, the 2 missed PAT, the bobbled snap that made us miss a chip shot field goal
Stop trying to take away credit from our team.. I'll be honest I hate out fanbase, I never seen such a negative atmosphere after a comfortable blowout, it's gotten so old
What was the question? Was it not whether or not UH is a dumpster fire this year? I don't think it is but we don't have a large enough sample size yet to exclude the possibility. The best performance was actually in a loss at BYU and outside of the last three minutes of the first half, UH was dominated (though they showed plenty of heart). Otherwise, there was the worst loss since the one to Texas State where the team looked woefully unprepared coming out of summer camp, an absolute layup and a win over UNLV that in some ways wasn't as impressive as the final score (but credit where credit is due, it was a rout).
It's not being negative but more realistic, Levine has had too many bombs in his career to be trusted at this point unless he proves otherwise.
We may well win this game so I'll have to eat my words but the display through 3 quarters against UCF doesn't look promising.

RE: This is embarrassing...
LOL what did you guys think was going to happen when the AAC took on the P5 this year?!?!? I would have bet money we lost a majority of those games. I would have bet wisely.
Those of you who keep spouting AAC as a Power conference....just stop. It's not power in tv money, not power in bowl line ups, not power on the field. It's not a power conference. There is nothing anybody can say to dispute the facts. So just stop the BS. I mean, we are at the point we are congratulating one another for just playing a P5 "tough" LOL.

Houston,UCF... I don't see ECU losing this momentum. Expect us to keep pushing forward even with the loss of Shane Carden. Air raid is fail proof offense.

A 3-1 Temple team with convincing wins at Vandy, at UConn, and it's 59-0 home win vs it's FCS opponent, that and a 7 point loss to Navy when they had a chance to win it on the final drive is MILES ahead of where anyone in the conference (with the exception of Temple fans) thought this program would be coming off a 2-10 season that featured losses to Fordham and Idaho.
Don't paint with such a broad brush.

the problem is the neutering. if i went into the ACC, took away their TV money, gave them $hitty bowls, took away their orange bowl....... then wait 2-3 years........ no talent would go to them. do this same scenario with the big 12...... same outcome. you may have a tweener that tries to survive like a boise state such as texas and oklahoma........ but the rest of the confernece would perform just as "grand" as USF, houston, etc against P5.
i hate it when people compare conferences apples to apples. you give the resources, money, and great bowl tie-ins to the AAC then wait 3-4 years........ you will see us on par with any P5 conference minus the SEC.

Yeah I'm not convinced on the plug and play concept. I would like to get some big leads coming into the 4th in a few games this year so Benkert gets some real playing time.

Give me a frigging break. You guys just got owned by Marshall a year ago. Carden went for all of zero TD and three INT in that game. How quickly you forget.

ECU had Dominique Davis before Carden, so ECU might actually have another really good quarterback sitting behind their current quarterback. Btw, Davis was really good; he set quite a few ECU and NCAA passing records in only 2 years of play. In fact Davis owns the NCAA record for most consecutive complete passes in one game (26) and in consecutive games (36). So don't assume that ECU will fall back after Carden, because rumor is that Benkurt is pretty good and he is supposed to be pretty athletic.

I remember it like yesterday - November 27, 2012 - the day the Big East died.

Agreed 100%
The AAC teams are not inherently bad. The circumstance we are creates all the perceived flaws. Give AAC teams ACC money, bowls, and ACC home schedules and all of a sudden recruiting, attendance, and on field performance all pick up significantly over time, at least by in large. Look what UC did in thr Big East vs CUSA.
So Im not saying the AAC teams and fans are inherently losers...we are victims of circumstance. Some make do in said circumstance (ecu) better than others (uh), true.
Given all this and putting all this in that context...we are not a power conference in any metric.

So far, I have nothing but respect for ECU fans.
I'm glad they are performing on the field. If it weren't for them, the AAC would be sitting mid-tier in the G5 (at best).
USF had the opportunity to challenge the P5. They did better than expected against Wisconsin and Maryland, but they did not do enough.
Temple and ECU look good on national TV. The rest of the conference DOES NOT... including Cincy. Sorry, Cincy fans, I like your program too.
