Count me proud that Dan Enos is CMU's head coach 03-puke

We can debate his wins and losses, and I've probably been as critical as many, but when it comes to Dan Enos' character, as an alum I trust and want him making the tough choices 03-lmfao03-lmfao because I see a man of high character we are fortunate to have. (Translated: I need this job at any cost 03-hissyfit)

Enos just finished answering the media, saying: “He’s paying the consequences, just like if you have a family with children who make mistakes. You don’t just kick them out of the house and tell them to never come home. That’s not how you deal with situations with young people you care about and your family. If you have a problem and make a mistake, as I’ve always said, there are consequences and you deal with those consequences. Then we have to move forward. We have to be very consistent with how we do things.”

Good gawd, this man is insufferable.

1. Danno, he has PAID NO CONSEQUENCES. None. He hasn't even been sentenced. He paid your consequence, which in relation to the offense is like giving your child a bag of candy for not spitting in your face.

2. You kicked Floury and Boone out of the house, and they did nothing worse than Rawls. The only decipherable difference is that without Rawls your team looked like $hit. This whole thing reeks of the desperation of a floundering coach and an AD who has hired two losers in his primary sports.

3. Consistent on doing things? I'm missing that component. Boone and Floury commit felonies they're booted. A guy who wins a couple of games for you commits a felony (three to be exact) and the coach is genuflecting before him and clearing space in his locker.

That is a man of discretion I want leading my program, who is consistent and who understands young people.

Discretion? Understands young people? Does he understand old people worrying about what the f()ck happened to their purse and who's running up a bill on their credit card? Does he understand that a 5th year senior is NOT A KID? Does his discretion only apply to non contributing players and not to ones who can pull out a win for the old coach?

If anything, Thomas Rawls was likely suspended twice as many games as many other first time misdemeanors as he did not commit a felony or a DUI. He certainly deserves a second chance like any other 19 or 20 year old son would.

Also, count me impressed that Rawls just openly answered the media, saying: “I don’t want to call it a mistake because it was a decision I made."

Ohh, that's so wonderful 03-weeping. No $hit, it wasn't a mistake. I've heard 4th graders say the same thing, only to repeat a similar offense after being given the "just don't do it again speech" followed by lunch with the principal. THIS ISN'T COACHING OR GOOD PARENTING, THIS IS ENABLING. Furthermore, it's enabling not to benefit the perp, it's enabling to benefit a coach who's rear end is on fire.

That tells me he recognizes he made a bad decision and he is taking ownership of making better ones in the future. This young man now has an opportunity to grow and make better decisions in life because his coach thought he was still worth investing in as a person, which he should.

A few may not understand this, but the easiest decision is for a coach to just cut a player. Any coach can do that, and even likely appease a few folks caught up in the "our program is holier than thou". . . But it takes a lot more time, effort and commitment to discipline, mentor and teach young people.

No not really stupid. It was a tough decision for Jim Caldwell to tell fat Nick Fairly to head to the bench until he starts taking care of his body. The Rawl's decision sends no message, other than, you can steal from an old lady and put her through hell, but if you can garner a 100+ yards we'll look the other way.

I support Enos 100% and see this life lesson as an opportunity for CMU football to rally as a family and as a team, in quest for the West.

Hey Tommyhawk. How bout your bring your mouth breathing 75 IQ over here and tell us what the LIFE LESSON was. Let's say your kid steals your wallet and spends every penny on candy. You bust him for it and his punishment is to say "I'm sorry daddy," followed by a trip to Cedar Point. I'm missing what the life lesson is. Help us out.

For the record, I'm hoping Toledo wins by 30, that the ESPN3 crew talk incessantly about this, and for good measure if Rawls blows a knee.........God's life lesson I guess 04-rock

Unfortunately, it's usually the Tim Hiller's of the world that get their knees blown up.

It is, but that can be changed.

Send your concerns to Jon Steinbach, MAC Commish, or to any of the following people. Send it to several concerned parties, and do it once or twice a day. Once you have one email set up to multiple parties it only takes a few seconds to resend it later. Trust me, they're taking notice.

This is one of the few solid conferences left. We don't need to get in the weeds with the slime balls of college sports simply to appease a coach who's moral compass is defined by the heat on his a$$.

They are all about family up there. Puts a little lump in your throat how much they are trying to help this young man prepare to contribute to society. They are all about doing the right thing.

I bet a lot of right thinking Chips are just rolling their eyes and blushing with shame.

Does not matter what fans may think. CMU administration is in agreement that he can play. The university has earned all the criticism, mocking and abuse it is receiving.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident for CMU. Has happened several times in the last decade that athletes under criminal indictment have been allowed to play. CMU owns it's nickname of Criminal Michigan University.

Poor Danno. His appeal to the fan base is now in the hands of a convicted felon awaiting sentencing. If he performs Dan is a hero, if not he risks losing his job.

And just for the record... When the ponies involved in the Wal Mart incident there in Kzoo plead down to a lesser charge and are done with the court system, I will support them being reinstated as well... AND, they will be.
Second chaces for bad decisions like these makes sense to me.

Dear Marooned Slappy
Difference being, they're not on the field, not even on the team at the moment. Hell, they didn't even get the merchandise, let alone steal it, and spend it as convicted felon Thomas Rawls did. And I'd bet a bucket of bait they won't be REINSTATED THE DAY AFTER THEIR CONVICTION.

Re: Grima Wormtongue Strikes Again
Dip2 modifying the facts will not help his Dan Enos conspiracy theory that he's only playing to save his job because it's debatable (based on consistent policy) that Rawls was likely suspended twice as many games as many other first time misdemeanors. Even far more egregious offenses, like DUI get half the suspension Rawls got (I understand McGarret Kings at MSU actually received no games for a recent DUI).

It's debatable whether he deserved a one or two game suspension but Enos would have suspended him until the court cleared up that it's a misdemeanor (and it won't even be that).

Rawls certainly deserves policy consistency and a second chance like anyone else would have gotten.

A DUI is not a felony you idiot. It can be if you hurt someone, but if your busted for blowing a .08 outside a bar, it's a little different than stealing an old ladies credit card and going on a spending spree. If Rawls deserves consistency and a second chance then how come Floury and Boone didn't get if for committing similar felonies........................oh yeah, because they didn't have the ability to put a W on the board for Snoozer Dan 03-nutkick

Quote:If anything, Thomas Rawls was likely suspended twice as many games as many other first time misdemeanors as he did not commit a felony or a DUI. He certainly deserves a second chance like any other 19 or 20 year old son would.

Say a player blew over the legal limit after moving his car two blocks down residential roads with no traffic, but a cop flagged him down and he got a DUI. How is that worse than worse than stealing someone's belongings? Would you rather have your daughter shack up with a dude who years back (a) Got a DUI moving his car late at night in college, or (b) Went to a casino and stole a lady's purse?

I believe in second chances. I really do. But CMU's thinking "We got CRUSHED by Syracuse -- at home! Then lost to pathetic Kansas -- all after thumping Purdue. We've suffered enough!" They're looking for their TEAM's second chances more than his. If he was a mediocre, run-of-the-mill RB who eeked out a starting spot which could go either way -- they'd bench him for the year, IMO -- and give him the 2nd chance next year.

With that said, hey, they are Allowed to play him again. They're not breaking any rules. If you're not going to make an example out of him -- mine as well not bench him for just one more game, as that'll only hurt your team's performance with zero admiration anyway, to that extent. Either play him off the bat, or sit him out for the year, IMO. Enos is like Hoke in Mt Pleasant -- he's got to play him if he has the window to.
