Clements out 2-6 weeks. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/...ppone.html That's a kick in the groin to our bowl chances.

These guys don't care about CUSA football and they are just plugging holes with their selections. We all know a few guidlines when filling out our predictions.
1. MTSU is going to the Bahamas
2. An east team will fill the Boca Bowl
4. The thought that HOD and New Mexico Bowls not being filled before Hawaii is hilarious

I feel like Marshall is gonna pull through and if they win the Conference, they will go to the Peach Bowl. I also feel like Rice and Tech will fill the HOD and Indy based on preference and who wins the west.

My predicitons are as follows
Bahamas: MTSU
Boca Raton: UAB
Independance: Tech
Zaxby's HOD: Rice
New Mexico: UTEP
Hawaii: WKU
Peach: Marshall

Maybe Birmingham: FAU

Why not UAB in Birmingham and FAU in Boca? If you swap those two I think it's almost perfect.

Do the cities involved want the home team ?

I thought they wanted to fill the hotels and restaurants.

Bowls want all of the above. They want to have the cake and eat it too.

But let's remember one thing. What bowls want first and foremost are tickets to sell. Two reasons...

First, the bowls profit margin is mostly driven by sponsorships and ticket sales. The former is greatly impacted by the latter, so logic dictates here that ticket sales is the predominant factor for the bowl committee. Sure they want to talk about bringing x number of dollars into the city, but they have to make their money first. Second, bowls have a minimum attendance requirement to maintain certification.

The logic in the Boca Bowl was obvious. 1) We were losing bowls. 2)Warm weather destination. 3)In the market where we already compete. It's not; therefore, illogical to assume that one of the Florida schools would almost certainly go there barring other variables similar to UL Laf in the New Orleans Bowl.

I don't understand how the bowl predictors are so oblivious to some certainties like MT going to the Bahamas. I will be shocked if we go anywhere but there.

Rice did it in 2008 for the Texas Bowl. (Notre Dame ducked us that year, and chose Hawaii instead.)

It was fine. Huge crowd and no painful and costly holiday travel.

FAU averages 14k at home. How many are going to travel 800 miles? Based on most of our attendance figures I think we'd be better off matching up our bowls as regional as possible to help attendance and build fan bases before asking them to travel.

Well let me rephrase my earlier answer... I'd rather be in Boca Raton.

RE: Bowl Projections.... again.
I agree. The Independance Bowl is always a great bowl for Tech when an ACC or SEC team is availible. 65 miles down the road and plenty to do for a weekend. Arguments can be made for either. UAB stays in B-ham and the city loses money on their hotels and restaurants vs FAU travelling 3000 miles and Hawaii gaining very little from a program that has beaches in its own back yard. The ideal situation for bowls is to have teams that are within a few hours of travelling distance but not too close to where hotel rooms aren't filled. If UAB can play a decent team that will travel and bring a decent market to watch on the tube, they can fill the stadium and its a win win.

Well, its obvious they are going to find a way to ignore Marshall, even if we are undefeated. I just hope we get the Indy bowl. Gonna have a rough time conjurimg up the spirit to fly to texas to play a Rutgers or the like. Especially after getting the shaft in this deal. Marshall is clearly the best team in the g5 IMO, and the committee didn't even rank us in their top 25 at 8-0? Thats a joke. They don't gice a crap about best teams. They are only concerned with p5s agenda.

That being said. I wont be attending any bowl vs any MAC school. It will be satisfying to beat the **** out of a Michigan or VT (compare that score to ECUs) or something though.
