Re: Freep Article - Finally some GOOD news
As for EMU... Terrible, per usual.
As for WMU... Franklin is a decent back, I've watched all their games thus far. He's big but not real physical, he's got good, not great speed... Thus far he's mostly put up yards as a byproduct of playing awful run defenses (remember Purdue?... And that's BY FAR the best Dline they've seen)... I wouldn't expect much from him this week.
Any back who runs for over 40 yards gets labeled "a BEAST" over on Slappy Illy. One can only imagine what they'd label Franklin. But in a nutshell, Frankklin is average, and his production is simply a byproduct of his competition. So in other words, Rawls success at Purdue (144 yards) was because HE'S A BEAST, and Franklin's 160 yards was because Purdue sucked.
It's funny to read their predictions now. Many begin with "If we had Rawls (suspended for stealing a credit card), Floury (thrown off the team for two counts of retail fraud and one other undisclosed arrest), and Davis I think we'd win..........."

They lose all credibility after that statement. what a bunch of morons. Franklin is the most physical back i have seen and he has great speed. best back we have had here since Sanford.

Don't you have Bronco sports insight to share and not worry about what they say about WMU? Why do you always obsess with what CMU types have to say?

I hope he stays healthy so he can run it down their throats. But even then, if he put up big numbers it would only be a "byproduct of lame competition."

The MAC office does not seem to think he is just average. Played 3 weeks and has 2 POW awards. Speaks for itself.

I couldn't help myself, I posted on their forum. Short, logical, and to the point, I'll likely be banned soon LOL

That was just one person's opinion. Read further, and I think you'll see most of us are impressed with Franklin.

RE: It's official, Franklin is just "average"
The thing with Franklin.. is he's a TRUE freshman... and up to this point has had quite a bit of success behind the current WMU OL running between the tackles... I wonder how he will react if this weekend the sledding gets a little tougher and he isn't finding those holes as wide open, or the linebackers as easy to run over... Like I said in another thread, I have a sneaky suspicion that we might see him catching more balls on designed screen plays to him... fake to braverman on the jet sweep... fake to Franklin up the middle.... and dump it back to him over the middle 5 yards down field... who knows...

Yeah, I saw that. The original post was wholly without foundation, no evidence and no stats to support his position,it was easy to refute, both from a comparison of the two running backs against a common opponent, as well as the rushing totals of Purdues other two opponents, neither one of whom had a back that gained 100 yards against Purdue. Google is so easy to use.

Speaking of losing credibility, would you care to extrapolate on how a guy that has to date played 3 of the most godawful teams in creation is the "most physical back" you've seen?
Thanks.

Stick to the facts, how did Rawls do against Purdue, how did Franklin do against Purdue? Second point, how did the other teams on Purdue's schedule do against Purdue with respect to running? Not real well, no hundred yard games.

Is that supposed to be another of your "short and to the point" posts? You may consider spending a bit more time on them going forward, as more than a few important points were omitted.
You're welcome.

Talk about a vague and stupid reply lacking omitted points, how about you tell us the few omitted points?
You're welcome.

Frankly true freshman> Rawls 5th year senior
Franklin plays for a team with little returning.
Rawls plays for the greatest returning chimp team in history from what I have read preseason.

Who in the hell wrote that? They lose all reasonable credibility after that.
Personally, I think we still have a lot to learn about the Broncos. Their 2 wins are against some of the worst defenses ever, but what they did in those games was nothing to sneeze at. Being at the game on Saturday and seeing Franklin in person. I don't know how many times I saw him turn a 1 yard gain into 6. Add the fact that he has an uncanny ability to see the holes before they open. Is a monster and runs hard.
I would say that Franklin a freaking beast.
Will this team reel of a bunch of wins? I'm really not sure that I have bought into that yet. But I am looking forward to seeing what they do against MAC competition.

Or just an amazing player in Franklin. He has absorbed a lot in a short period of time. So yes I would give Hart some credit for that and PJ for seeing his potential and closing the deal.
