If I'm Idaho...that's probably not the news I want to hear with league renewal coming up for debate in two years.

Can Idaho seriously be voted out? Has a team ever been voted out of a conference before?

Since Idaho is an associate member, they are renewed every two years, and at any point the league can non renew them for any reason. See UMass and the MAC. At some point the league said, all sports or nothing and sent the Minutemen out the door.

That's different from actually voting a league member out...which creates bad blood. Temple got expelled from the Big East quite a while back. There was talk at one point that the Big 10 might expel Penn State after the Sandusky scandal.

In fact, in recent years this happened in the Sun Belt when the conference kicked Denver out.

And yet not long ago it was the #1 conference in FCS.

To the Citadel and Chattanooga crowd, I say it couldn't happen to a better crowd. I do hate to see Furman and Wofford go down the tubes with them. I might want to throw in Western Carolina with them as I've always felt sorry for them. By the way, what's the deal with Wofford? They've really done nothing since we left.

SoCon should really absorb the good parts of the Big South and move on with life. No reason Coastal Carolina and Liberty couldn't replace GaSouth and App over there.

Denver was not kicked out - they chose to go to the WAC rather than meet the Sun Belt's sport sponsorship requirement:

You kind of know the schools and administrators of those schools.
That is why the SoCon wouldn't do that.

Wasn't Texas Pan American kicked out a few years ago?

A Sport Sponsorship requirement that the league put into play with the whole intention of forcing Denver out.

The SBC Knew very well that Denver wouldn't up their sport sponsorships, so they used this as a way to dump them without having to go the full process of expelling them.

Keep in mind, SBC rules are very selectively enforced. UALR breaks like half of the membership requirements yearly, but the league has never attempted to force the Trojans out, and likely never will unless AState was to leave the league.

Why is that? Why is UALR allowed to break the rules?

It doesn't bother me, just wondering why (in this example) UALR got a pass, but Denver did not. A location thing?

yep. Everything I've read makes me assume troy would NEVER support Jacksonville state to join the belt.

Hearing the administration and athletic department are working in high gear with a local firm and Rosser Architects (same group who did the work on Paulson Stadium) on east side stadium renovation. Total cost between $15 and 20 million. Capacity will stay close to 22,000, but will include suites, press area, football facility.

Also moving ahead with close to $5 million in baseball and softball improvements. This president is serious about transforming Eastern. All the word off of campus is about making big plans and delivering.

Know we're a few years behind, but exciting to see an aggressive vision, and more importantly, steps to deliver.

YES! Yes it does. . . . . . 04-bow AND welcome to the Belt

On a serious note, if we could add E. Kentuk, Mizz St, and NMSU for all sports, that might not be too bad . . .

What "fear" does jax st strike...? Speaking of petty...why is it that jax st hasn't played TROY since we moved up? Answer...it ain't us that's the problem.

Huge night for the Colonels. Traveled to Coral Gables, FL and blew out the #18 ranked team in the country by 28. It's all about the EKU!

Neubauer has built a program that will compete immediately in the SBC.
