Funny stuff!

Ranking the ACC

1. Florida State (3-0): The Seminoles have lost in their last two trips to Raleigh.

2. East Carolina (3-1): Would be fun to see the Pirates in Charlotte instead of the actual Coastal survivor.

3. Clemson (1-2): That was the real Clemson defense. Now Dabo just needs to find a kicker

4. Virginia (2-2): Not going to penalize the Cavaliers for losing to UCLA and Brigham Young.

5. Duke (4-0): The Blue Devils know how to handle their business against bad teams.

6. Georgia Tech (4-0): Little Justin Thomas made Bud Foster’s D look bad.

7. Pitt (3-1): Disappointing home loss to an average Big Ten team.

8. Boston College (3-1): Good thing that was Maine, to follow up USC.

9. Louisville (3-1): Cardinals go on hiatus until an Oct. 11 trip to Clemson.

10. Virginia Tech (2-2): The subsequent losses do not make Urban Meyer feel any better.

11. Miami (2-2): Still no improvement on defense.

12. UNC (2-1): And the Tar Heels’ D makes Miami’s look competent.

13. N.C. State (4-0): Business is about to pick up for the unbeaten Wolfpack.

14. Wake Forest (2-2): Nice late rally for a win over Army.

15. Syracuse (2-1): Basketball season starts soon.

If you watched the first two and a half quarters of that Tulane game you'd have probably had the impression that Tulane was the better team but was beating itself.

When you give up 215 yards rushing, I'm not sure that's "handling your business against bad teams."

I doubt his ACC readers will enjoy the humor, but I think it is funny.

Right now ECU and Duke are the two best teams in the NC. ECU has surpassed Duke after the last two weeks. I am the first to admit I am glad NCSU doesn't have to play ECU again this year. As long as ECU does not do a NC Football tradition that has plagued most NC college football teams, a WTF game, they should be celebrating New Year's Eve in Atlanta. Cardin should be the first QB taken in the NFL draft this year.

ECU probably would be the second best team in the ACC. UCF was the best team in the B12 last year.

Id say third. I don't think we are as good a UVA and no where the caliber of FSU. Ga Tech would give us fits also. Navy is still scoring on us with the TO.

I think ECU could handle UVA and GT.

With all due respect (and I'm also a huge Carden fan as my son was his first ever autograph) but Carden's draft status will be heavily impacted by the style of offense he ran both in high school and college. If he had this type of success in a pro-style offense, then he would be a for sure high first round draft pick. Fair or unfair...because he isn't in a pro-style offense, it hurts his stock. He'll have to do this all year long and hopefully in the Peach as well to have any chance of being drafted high in the first round. I'm friends with Andrew Luck's agent (my neighbor) and he basically gave me the low-down on how QBs in offensive systems like ECU's are evaluated. He's not saying it couldn't happen (ala RGIII), but Carden has a huge body of work to get there versus pro-style QBs.

Actually RG III's performance to date makes it even less likely that it will happen.

Absolutely. There are few QBs in this type of system that have truly performed well in the NFL. Still, the point stands. Carden would have to perform at or above RGIII's numbers to even have a chance. Even with those numbers, Carden is up against a wall.

I liken Carden to Russell Wilson. Physically they may not seem NFL material, but mentally they make quick and smart decisions. Carden will probably go 3rd round or later but I hope he gets a chance somewhere.

I think of Case Keenum when I think of Carden.

a lot of QB in the Air Raid offense have gone on to the pros and had very underwhelming pro careers.
