RE: Freshman Nominees for Week 4
Not much of a Freshman impact for GS this week, once again our only viable entry:

RS Freshman RB LA Ramsby with 12 carries, 26 yds, and 1 TD.

What about Sapp? Is he a freshman?

Yes, True Fr. He had 3 tackles. OP suggests only 1 nomination from each team so the vote is not split. Sapp's impact on the game was probably more than the stat line shows, but since LA had a TD, I just figured give it to him.

Actually, Utah State had the FOURTH best rushing defense in the nation coming into the A-State game, approximately 60+ yards allowed per game.

Idaho's Matt Linehan threw for 353 yards, 2TD and 3INT. I think before weekend he was already the first Freshman or new startting QB in Idaho history to 300+ back to back games. Now he just did it a 3rd time. He now has Idaho ranked 10th in the nation in passing. He is now ranked #23 passing yards
#36 in TDs thrown, #19 in Passing Attempts, #18 Complete Passes

Johnston White's efforts aided in a big win too. The others were all done on the losing end.

White's efforts were behind a rebuilt OL that had a lot of trouble blocking Utah State all night...they gave up some awful sacks, so White's 100 yards were tough yards. White split time with 2 other freshmen RBs too.

I think the Idaho QBs numbers would have won it except for the 3 INTs and the loss and Payne's efforts at Ga State were very good but the numbers were also in a losing effort. Payne should be defensive Freshman player of the week and White Offensive Freshman play of the week.

Johnston White did his work against a TOUGH run defense. A-States 126 yards rushing was the most against them in the last 8 games - which included Tennessee and the bowl game against NIU's Jordan Lynch. Lynch had over 100 yards 8 times last season, but only managed 39 vs. Utah St on 18 carries. Twice the QB ran for over 300.

Wonder when was the last time a back had 100 yards rushing against the Utah State defense?

I have a thing for D players showing out. The INTs for all the QBs is disheartening. Had to go with the D guy over the RB. They rarely get recognition in the big scheme of things.
