Week 5: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
As we start to get into some conference games, here are my predictions for week 5 in the Sunbelt Conference:
App State @ Georgia Southern 38-28: I think this will be a lot closer than most GS fans will be comfortable with. I still think the Eagles pull through in the 4th and walk away with a clear and decisive win during the 28th meeting of this rivalry.
South Alabama @ Idaho 28-14: South Alabama has a great defense. If only they can get their offense together, making shorter passes, instead of trying to throw long down field. Idaho's only advantage is the fact that they are hosting, and USA has to make the long trip to Moscow.
Troy @ ULM 35-10: Troy has been disappointing all around this season. ULM should easily pull away with a clear win.
New Mexico State @ LSU 42-0: I see this game being a shut out. LSU has a great defense, and will put on some points on NMSU.
Texas State @ Tulsa 24-17: Tulsa lost horribly to FAU two weeks ago. Still, they had a bye last week and should go out playing strong. Texas State has been pretty decent so far this season, playing Illinois pretty closely, and I see them pulling the win.
Ark State, Louisiana, and Georgia State all on a bye week.
I hope you will all be watching the App @ GS game on Thursday @ 7:30pm ET on ESPNU!

Our first Thursday night game in 30 years. No telling how we will show up. Luckily the cameras will be pointing at the student section, which fills the entire lower section of ground level seating.
'How we look' lives and dies by the students since I doubt many of our Atlanta alum make the trek on a week night. I'm taking both days off work, but I doubt most people are doing that.

To those that are picking GSU we are 16 point favorites over APPY, but don't let that influence you. When GSU & Appy play it's called the Black & Blue Bowl & the favored has often lost. They are a major hurtle for RGSU.
That said RGSU pulls this one out!!!!!!

If it were a Saturday game their would be standing room only, but I don't know about a 7:30 game on a Thursday night. If it weren't for the TV exposure I wouldn't want to play on Thursdays.

I know a few people who are leaving their spouses behind and making this a guys trip. I'm hoping the students turn out in full force for this game with it being a Thursday night and nothing else to do.

with maybe the exception of the TXST/Tulsa game
it seems to me that if any of the other four belt games were to turn out differently than expected - they would be absolute stunners.

Someone needs to tell these universities if its required, it's not a donation.

App vs GS: 27-30 Very close game again. Southern BEATS APP
USA vs Idaho: 27-14
Troy vs ULM: 7-30 It's a blowout.
TXST vs Tulsa: 14-10 Just because that's a weird score for these two.

MY prediction is that the Cajuns will not lose this week take that to the bank. I haven't been this confident in a long time. But for everyone else compete hard and I hope your teams come out your games injury free.

App State @ Georgia Southern
South Alabama @ Idaho - This game is an absolute must for USA.
Troy @ ULM - This game is an absolute must for Troy. Just don't see it though.
New Mexico State @ LSU - LSU will be po'd. Not good for NMSU.
Texas State @Tulsa

Actually it was 25 years ago. God Im getting old. It was one of ESPN's first Thursday night games. Plus it was in the middle of Hurricane Hugo. I think about 10,000 people showed up in the middle of that huge storm. Was against Middle Tenn.
