Bad day for CUSA
Days like today are a good reminder of how things can change from week to week. All the chest thumping can come to a very sudden halt.

I feel bad for La Tech but FAU...I'm not sure how you move on from that one

At least USM beat Appy. C-USA still hasn't lost to the Belt.

RE: Bad day for CUSA
The day wasn't all bad. C-USA had some nice wins too. The LA Tech and MT loses were tough loses to swallow, but the rest of the day was fair. This is what an average week for a G5 conference looks like. Overall, C-USA still has a winning head to head record verses the other G5s, and there are still a few non-conference games left.

Memphis is pretty damn good.

The La Tech loss is puzzling. I thought they looked pretty good in the first three weeks.

I think FAU is a bowl team.

Yeah, i'm still trying to figure out how LaTech choked that game away.. and that's the only thing I can call it, a total choke job/collapse.

FAU, we knew that one would be iffy, playing a few thousand feet above sea level... (although the coaches do need to be shot for their play calls at the end).

As for the Memphis game, a few of us said it'd be tougher than some fans were claiming.

La Tech had 5 turnovers including two late with the game on the line. That'll do it every time.

It wasn't all that bad. A few teams took care of business.

That was . . . a strange game. I'm not even that ticked off. If I didn't believe in the Football Gods before now; I sure do now.

We had the return of Skippy Ball. Questionable coaching moves, nearly 3 times the penalties of NSU, and 5 turnovers. They scored 23 of their 30 points off turnovers.

Mostly unforced turnovers at that.

It wasn't the greatest but it wasn't grim-like either. Not going to have a superb week every weekend, just ask the Sun Belt.

Welcome to our World. We have a bad week every week. At least AState got the SBC a decent OOC Win today.

RE: Bad day for CUSA
I was disappointed in the La Tech loss, but $hit happens. I thought FAU keeping the game close was a good sign, not sure how good Wyoming is, but I didn't think it was going to be a FAU win. FIU getting blown out was somewhat expected. Marshall and North Texas blowing out their opponents was good. After Memphis hung with UCLA, I thought MTSU was going to have to play a flawless game to beat Memphis, so not a surprise that they didn't win. Was really glad So Miss beat App State, I wasn't sure that they could or would. A little close for comfort at the end, a good sign that they are moving in the right direction. I was surprised that ODU beat Rice, looks as if Rice isn't the Rice of last year and ODU has made the transition nicely. I don't have a good feel for Charlotte or their opponents (FCS), so not really sure what to make of them losing to Elon.

Overall some disappointments, but not totally unexpected.

Now you know how UTSA fans felt after those 5 turnovers last year against Houston in the 4th, it f-ing sucks!

Sloppy, lazy, half-assed offense and special teams giveaways and "short fields" for the opponent. 23 of their 30 points came after LA Tech giveaways.

Called the bad day. However, la tech was a major surprise. As for FAU, i expected wyoming to win by 10 or more. Middle could beat memphis i thought as well. On to conference play for most of us.

Playing in Wyoming can be tough due to the elevation. Not sure if that factored in to the loss or not, but FAU is still my CUSA dark horse pick this year. Nice seeing ODU get the win today as well as USM with the last second block.

Yeah I honestly doubt it now. Losses like that are crippling and being 1-3 instead of 2-2 at this point is huge. Our coach let his team down in that game. No doubt about it. I am still depressed over it. We loses a game or 2 every year in just crushing fashion.
