He has to be let go or resign. This is one of the worst Sun Belt football teams that I have ever witnessed and I would have never in a million years thought it would be a Troy Trojan team.

That's what a JUCO all-star team looks like versus Georgia.

RE: Blakeney
Blakeney has lost his team. When that happens to a coach it is time for a new one. These players need a new leader.

No disrespect because I gather that LB has been huge for Troy over the years, but the clip of his press conference the other day had me thinking WTF? At this point it doesn't sound like he could lead his grandson to the damn bathroom, let alone a football team.

We do not like to talk about it out of respect, but have seen that kind of thing.

There are a few other conference mates that wish the same thing. It
happens. What is it they say, you have to have some bad times to
really appreciate the good times.

Strangely enough, our A.D and administration are publicly behind Blakeney (He "hasn't forgotten how to coach") and are prepared to let him try to get out of this. Question is, will there be more than 1,000 diehard fans, the band, cheerleaders and a half-dozen donors left when the decision is made.

I understand and appreciate what he has done for and means to Troy. But should loyalty to the man allow the program to disintegrate, killing recruiting, attendance, support and donations for years to come? The official answer to this question is, yes.

Larry needs to be told this is his last year and let him decide when and how to announce it

I am NEVER in favor of firing a coach (or them stepping down) this early in a season. Once a losing record for the season is assured, maybe.

Just my opinion.

This situation has been developing for a couple years now.

Blakeney needs to go. Now.

Potential recruits are seeing these awful performances.

Larry hasn't forgotten how to coach. He knows how to game plan, break down film, call plays, evaluate talent, and teach technique.

Part of football is mental and is about faith in the staff and school and it is about a team culture.

A few years ago, we had recruits visit and we had to be careful which players they could be around because some of them would be telling prospects to not come here. Whether it was fear of losing a spot to them or honest assessment of how they felt, I don't know but it said a lot about the culture.

I watched part of the Georgia game and I noticed early on the receivers were suffering from short arm disease, no willingness to try to catch a ball that didn't land perfectly in their hands and some sluggishness on defense in coming in to help.

Looks like a team that has quit to me.

If he announced his retirement at the end of the year tomorrow, the team may rally and send him out with a flourish. Meanwhile, their AD is ready to introduce his successor a week after the end of the season.

He reminds me of Steve Roberts the last year he was our coach. He looked and sounded lost with no answers to the problems we were having.

I do agree our team isn't even trying, nevertheless blakeney isn't either. At what point will we stop throwing screens when they OBVIOUSLY don't get us anywhere. I could see if we still had jerni.

RE: Blakeney
Surely, he hasn't forgotten to coach., But someone explain to me how Troy NEVER seems to adjust to another team's scheme. The problems of the first half continue through the entire game. Every game. Every other team adjusts to Troy's strengths and many times neutralizes them.

Why is Troy so heavily penalized year after year? Why is Troy's special teams abysmal year after year? Why is the defense (formerly the strength) a joke year after year?

Is that not coaching?
