Devin Steele from K97. Good stuff. From what I understand he'll be there for several other games this season.

Awesome game and experience at the game. I had to wait until 5pm to go because my daughter didn't get off work. Luckily had already had tickets because the line to buy tickets was insane. It was out past the fountain at 5:45pm. The lines to get in were just as bad to get into the stadium. Sat down in our seat just before kickoff.

Nice to have those problems, huh?

you can buy and print your tickets on line. it would be nice if you could just download the bar code to your smart phone and just scan that at the gate.

RE: Memphis-MTSU attendance predictions
Traffic was a nightmare getting out of the Red lot. No one in the main line was letting anyone from my row in, and the person at the front of the line refused to be aggressive. On top of that, they had the "in" half of the gate closed (as if anyone would want to get in.) Letting us use all of the lanes to get out certainly would have helped. I wanted to turn South on Hollywood, but no one would let me over.

That said, it's amazing that we had enough fans to warrant traffic problems. Even the police officers controlling the lights had no idea what they were doing. Let's hope they get PLENTY of chances to practice over the rest of the season.

RE: Memphis-MTSU attendance predictions
For the first time in a while, I had to move people out of my seats.

I bet we got an extra 6 - 10,000 there last night due to the kickoff time. I was worried about this being an 11:00 or 3:00 start which would have dropped attendance for sure.

I usually could leave my tailgate 10 minutes prior to kickoff and have plenty of time but not last night which is a good problem to have.

I'm told the stadium anticipated a crowd of 32000. They got swamped

the University said ( off the record ) that 38000 tickets had been sold as of Friday morning. i wonder why would the Liberty Bowl think there would be no walk ups and a lot of no shows?

RE: Memphis-MTSU attendance predictions
I thought we would have around 40,000. Was slightly shocked we had 46,000.

If the city never expands the Liberty Bowl, this game would have been a packed house. I wish they never would have expanded. In the old stadium, a crowd of 30,000 made the liberty bowl look slightly full, but now 30,000 still looks half empty. Plus the sky boxes would be much better and not so high if they were put on the old stadium.

Dunno - that was the numbers planned for at the stadiums game week planning meeting earlier in the week. More screwy is the massive reduction of porta johns on tiger lane and lock down of the pipkin building restrooms

I thought it the only negative of the game. Why does anyone what to hear some guy scratching records. All of the old farts in my section felt the same way. But if it makes Tiger football attractive to younger fans, I will be happy to endure it.

Memphis-MTSU attendance predictions
Sat in 121, third row behind MTSU. The kids looked overwhelmed at first and then shell shocked later in the game. Especially on their 3rd downs. Stunning!

Those were some awful decisions.

I believe we played sissy in 09, Utk in 10, and Moo in 11 at home. Last night had more fans...to see MEMPHIS! Sweet.

I just walked into where the band was eating and used their bathroom. I think it was the Pipkin Building. May or may not have been drinking.

This is what excites me about last night and the potential for the future. Memphis has some great fans and a lot of people in Memphis want to get behind the program. The excitement is building and some of those fans are starting to come out and show some support.

Yep. There is a lot of pent-up hunger for a successful football team, despite Memphis being regarded as a basketball school in the last couple of decades. Just a feeling that the team is playing harder brings people out in droves.
