I lived there from birth until college and one of my main goals upon graduation was to never move back there. I have succeeded thus far and it would take an act of God to get me to move back.

Cool story. Really added some objective points to this thread. Good luck tomorrow, hopefully everyone coming to the game can make it out with their life win or lose

Bingo! Why pay someone to beat your A** When someone is willing to pay you to beat your A** 05-mafia

All I can say is do some research. Your dumbness is special.

1 and 1. This year alone 1 and 1 with UCLA and Ole Miss. The other OOC is the series with MTSU and a buy game for AP.

I'm one of the most easy-going people you'll meet. I think you're getting defensive because you've come across plenty who say what I say. Universities aside you know there are too many problems here. Also I belong to none of those corporations. Also I'll bite any of the 21 host cities who feed me. I stay in Memphis for my reasons. And it has NOTHING to do with this suck town.

Hate to break it to you, but from the perspective of folks where I live --northern Iowa/southern Minnesota area--most who have been to both Memphis and the Nashville area, can't tell much difference between the two.

The narcissism of small differences I think is the term that applies to the city smack between the areas.

ha ha ha....this is so true. our campus is not the dirty middle of the city campus like utk. people need to get out more. its funny

Where in Iowa or Minnesota did you live?

My point is that the smack between Nashville and Memphis seems about the same as the smack between, say, Omaha and Des Moines---where an outsider couldn't tell the difference between either one, but locals magnify it for some reason. That's the term "narcissism of small differences."

And since you brought it up I have known 4 people from Minnesota since I've been here. 1 moved back after less than 1 year working for one of the companies your boy listed. The other 3 work with me and speak daily of getting out.

Lol that's fine, I'll take it! The only reason I said anything was to make a point that it's the ONLY thing that keeps me in this god awful city.

I lived in Nashville and Memphis for many years and hold degrees from both U of M and MTSU. I like Nashville, but Memphis is my preferred location and I hope to move to the Bluff City upon retirement. Memphis has soul.

RE: Nice piece in the Murfreesboro paper
I don't get the city smack. Probably because I'm from florida originally so it wasn't forced on me that one is better or worse from birth. I visited memphis in 2012 for the game. Had a great time and some great ribs... Got a big win and left. Never felt nervous or scared or anything. Could be that I'm the size of an O Lineman, but I just don't get scared no matter where I am. Cautious maybe, but never scared. I've been in worse areas like the south side of Chicago or the area in DC near the nationals stadium. Memphis is fine.

It's because most people that say those things have never been to Memphis, nor lived there. It's a gritty city with soul and certain areas you don't want to go in......like every city. I've lived in both Nashville and Memphis and never had any problems in either city.
