RE: Former UT QB de-commit to transfer
He's looking to transfer somewhere where he won't have to compete for the starting position. Seriously, unless there is more to the reason for transferring, this kid sounds incredibly immature.

Maybe he can work out a deal like Orlando Woolridge had at Notre Dame for basketball

C'mon. You can't blame the kid. Chance are high that he wouldn't start until he was a 5th year senior. Would you want to do that? It's not like he plays a position where they rotate players.

Ok? Some players are fine with it, others aren't. Like I said, you can't blame him for making this decision.

RE: Former UT QB de-commit to transfer
Given the QB roster he already had at Wake and had coming in to Wake, I'm baffled that anyone believes Clawson had good reasons for offering this kid. I'm baffled that anyone would doubt how seductive an offer at Wake could be or how attractive a situation Clawson could make it seem.

As I recall, the kid had a solid GPA. He showed good character in high school and he was our recruit. Why shouldn't he be again?

That said, his future fiance should probably keep tight reins.

RE: Former UT QB de-commit to transfer
I think everyone goes through the homesick period. Went through it myself....especially after the upperclassman reported and I quickly realized the praise heaped upon me during the recruiting process was nothing more than a great sales job. Long story short...about a week into camp, I started feeling sorry for myself, saw the writing on the wall that I would not be playing as a FR and thought about bolting for home. I placed a call to my Dad, who sensed what I was thinking and he stopped me dead in my tracks. He told me that I committed to do this and he was not going to let me quit on the team or quit on myself. It was the best advice he could have given me. I was seeking the easy way out and once I realized that...everything else took care of itself.

As we know, you can't have enough good QB's. or any other kind of players. It was life learned lesson for Smith, and if he wants to a Rocket. Let's welcome him in.

My Brother went to a small college in Tennessee as a freshman, and became homesick also. I told him to try one more year, and if he felt the same way after another semester, Then come home. Well to this day, he says he should have listened to me, and stayed with it. All people are different. There is a big difference between 3 hours and 13 hours from home.

He dumped us. Don't care about being homesick. Have a good time at one of the worst programs in the nation and no fans.

I guess the saying is true that you meet the same people on the way down that you met on the way up.

Wow. Give the kid a break. We all make decisions throughout our lifetime we regret later. When we're young, we get "wowed" at times and make decisions without thinking things through. Remember, he was only 17, maybe 18 years old when he changed his mind. He seemed to have the "Chuck Ealy" charisma of nothing but a winner. I wish him the best, (just not against The Rockets though).

Well explained by Let's Go Blue. Kid did nothing wrong, nothing to UT and Ohio already has one jack-ass fan base, doesn't need another. A recruit goes the other way, doesn't say anything disparaging about UT, time to move-on.

We've good reason to believe staff is looking at a guy who cold-cocked another kid. Haven't heard not-a-Campbell say anything about that cowardly move. Far as I'm concerned, he can shove any comments making fun of a kid that got stars in his eyes, then got homesick.

You want to make fun of a kid, a kid that was not guilty of any moral lapse and do it in the name of our fan base, fine. That's who you are. That's not me. What any of this has to do with Hockey or that other school, is lost on me.
