I'm certain there were a few grins other than mine that enjoyed fedhat's ego losing a gear last night after you guys poured 70 on his narcissistic arse...

Remember he is a TRUE sophomore. Sophomores usually struggle. That is why they call it the 'sophomore slump'. He will get better but will have some bonehead games mixed in with the good ones. Consistency will come with more experience.

dude....I love Mullens and have compared him to AD in style minus the escapability/athleticism.
Monk is now trying to cut him loose....fedhat let AD go right out of the gate...that's my only issue with Monk....even the NFL has figured out the 'toss 'em to the wolves' principle
....the word 'interesting' was apropos....b/c if he doesn't respond and that slump continues with one year remaining on a contract, Monk may try something else next year ((was interesting him mentioning lamb in the postgame....one of his stranger comments but may have been subliminally intentional in coach speak terms (to light that fire))
Confidence is inherent and can be lost and never found in an instant....everything he has presented to date promotes confidence.....that's my only concern with him....and I liked Monk's comment....

I thought Mullens was a bright spot most of the game. Right after he escaped what should've been a safety in the Endzone I said to myself, "He's playing more like a Senior than a Sophomore." Then he threw the first of two stupid INTs. The D stood tall in this one and Special Teams were also very good. The transfer from Houston is going to bring a kick back all the way at some point(s) this season. Biggest issue? Play call on third down. The plays seem to be called with no respect to where the first down marker is. Appy was too good of a tackling team for that to work.

Thank goodness y'all beat App State. We'd have never heard the end of it if you had lost. Great win for the Eagles - hope this season is more 'back on track'! Go CUSA!

A win is a win...no matter what. There are no style points awarded.
AND, most importantly, USM is 2-2 on the season!!!! Congratulations. You are on your way back!

Congratulations to Southern Miss on a tough, hard-earned victory over an opponent that is fanatically dedicated to excellence in football.
USM has a long way to go, but this is a step in the right direction.

Watched the game.. Found it broadcasted on Dish up here in Missouri.
Should've never blown a lead like that.. But that being said.. I saw something I haven't seen since 2011.. The guys didn't quit.. We turned over the ball, the Defense got it back.. We could've went to OT, but we blocked the extra point.. Same with a FG..
Guys there are some promising things there.. Will the ship get righted this season.. Probably not.. We might get a couple more wins.. The defense is coming around, still work to be done there.. The Offense is looking better..
If Monk sticks around, I see good things happening..

My goodness it was ugly. Execution was awful on offense. Defense was gassed (they aren't all that great either).
But, honestly we were due a few breaks and we got them in this game.
We are going to have to play better, simple as that.

Hey, at least you weren't forced to pull for Elon today. Sheez. I feel I need a shower for doing that.
Any day an Appy thinks about taking a shower is a good day.

I saw a few of their fans at a Wendy's after the game. They were totally dejected lol. I would've been too. Their kicker was our best player.

I'm happy Daz is finally showing what we saw out of him as a backup in 2011.

Yep, this team is very, very young and lacking in talent, but I will say that they don't quit.

Very very young and lacking in talent is not a good combination

Determination can win you one or two games you wouldnt normally win, blad. I'd like to think the determination games come in early (Rice would be a good example game (but I'll be honest, I expect Rice to just run, run, run and plow over our LB'ers right now), and that gives you some talent/bulidup for later in the season.
