RE: What I Like about PJ Fleck
Personally I think we come out strong. Toledo won't have an initial solution for Franklin. We go up 14 early. The question is can we hold it.

I would pay $25. But yeah, I know what you're saying. I would be Happy only losing by 3. If it became a barn-burner, there's about as good a chance as us winning as they, IMO -- so I wouldn't mind losing $100. A MUCH greater chance of them winning a non-barn-burner than us.

Todd - A few years ago we lost to Toledo by 3 with a score of 66-63, and I was not happy at all. No damn defense at all in the game.

I like PJ's use of timeouts the past two weeks to slow the drives of opposing offenses. After using the timeouts, Murray State went three-and-out and missed a FG, and Va Tech went three-and-out and had to punt.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more coaches start doing this - and I'm almost certain we'll see PJ try this again at some point on Saturday.

RE: What I Like about PJ Fleck
I like that he seems totally into this job. He may not be doing everything right, but if he doesn't get the job done it won't be for lack of effort or commitment, and I also like that he is sticking to his row the boat mantra. It's not what I would have done probably, but he has a vision that he believes in, and his players believe in him. He has passion, and is not wavering. I respect that. He is a young guy who will neccesarily learn some thing's by mistake. I can tolerate living through some growing pains with fleck. He took a punch last year and is back to fight some more. I don't know if he will be successful, but at least he isn't some old school football by the old book guy. He's fun to watch.

If we do, I will do a spectacular stunt in the middle of S. Park street, near Dutton. :)

Yeah -- I wasn't Happy about that. That was a year we weren't bouncing back from 1-11, though. NIU/Toledo game the week after (or prior?) was about as high-scoring. Crazy Toledo. I just think we're either going to have our a$$ handed to us, or more likely, we play it relatively close a good portion of the way, and lose by 2 TDs -- not 2 FGs. I feel about as confident on this as I did about the WMU vs NIU game last year -- the only game I bet on.

Especially with Toledo, yes -- we will do it. At least once each half -- if not using 2 timeouts in the first half purely for that. It's a good way to stop a team's tempo and force them to start it up again. Toledo scores like a frat boy at a nerd-girl picnic. Calling time-outs when they're starting to get to 1st base is a good way to heed their momentum.

Don't know if any of you stayed up for the end of the Arizona-Oregon game last night, but Rich Rod used this strategy late in the game. Up seven, he took a timeout after Oregon got a couple quick first downs. A couple plays later, Arizona made a great defensive play, sacking and stripping Mariota to finish off the Ducks.

Yeah, I was at a local pub with Dirty Kirty, with the 4th Q on the TV there. It bumped up Nevada's SoS. It more solidified that Nevada has a tougher SoS than this year's mid-major sweetheart, ECU.
Nevada will be much more likely to lose a game between now and bowl-time, though.
But back to the original point -- I didn't notice the timeouts called. Interesting. I would have paid more attention, if it was not for my rapist wit & ubur charm being applied to the felines at the time.

Not possible Brovol.
If you believe what is being written on the "Fire Fleck" thread, Fleck is busy with court dates, child visitations, family counseling, moving to a new pad, looking for other car lease options, not to mention finding time for his new squeeze.
Since it appears everyone at the office knows about his indiscretions he's probably feeling like an outcast and the butt of water cooler jokes. He probably can't even get a Grad Assistant to help him move at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if he sleeps on the couch in his office. Lord knows the players probably all know, so who knows how they view him. Sure, they act like they're listening to him, and yeah, they did crowd surf him after the Idaho game, but really, how much of that is sincere.
