Tulane has just been freed from the 15 year reign of President Scott Cowen.
He took over a program ranked 8th in the country and systematically drove it into the ground.

Ok but really, let's not suggest we were a top-7 PROGRAM at that point. Step back and realize that was one year. The aftermath absolutely should have been handled better, and his "reign" was no cakewalk for athletics in the beginning, but we certainly didn't have some sort of history of winning that he dismantled. We wasted a great opportunity and went back to our usual.

Rufus Harris & Scott Cowen were two peas in a pod in that they refused to recognize the value that a high profile football program brought to a university.
President Harris' decision in eliminating scholarships, athletics funding & athletics friendly curriculum was the initial blow that Tulane Football never recovered from.
Scott Cowen has not only turned Tulane into an expensive insignificant liberal arts diploma mill, but he did this while presenting himself as the national champion of all athletic departments left behind by the BCS. His national hand wringing was nothing more than pathetic as he used the platform to enhance his profile while refusing to provide football with the resources to compete on the field.
Tulane University has been an institution at war with itself over the prominence of revenue producing athletics for far too long. The debate is over as high profile "academic universities" (Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame & Georgia Tech) have managed to produce competitive teams without undermining the academic mission of the school.

Tulane University a diploma mill at $50,000 a Year? What are you smoking! Tulane is one of the most prestigious private universities in the South. It's name and reputation is known throughout the world particularly in Latin America. Former president Scott Cowen has not been good for us but our new president Michael Fitts, former Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School is a plus. Obviously you are not a Tulane alumnus! PS. With your three posts you are in disguise and obviously hate and jealous of Tulane. Get a life!

We have a good reputation in Latin America! That's great. Don't get your panties in a twist. $50,000 per year for a liberal arts education at Tulane is $50,000 pissed down the toilet. Yes, I did earn my undergraduate degree from Tulane. My what thin skin you have - you need to settle down skipper.

You're really blowing a lot out of proportion. Groups like the Carnegie Foundation and US News & World Report would disagree that Tulane is a liberal arts school, and so would 99.9% of academia.

Tulane should have at least 2 wins this year (sorry Tulsa), and probably should have beat GT. I hope you guys can get out on top of Duke early and do what's necessary to close out the game, and not let another late lead slip away.

As someone who received two degrees (BSM and JD) from Tulane during Scott Cowen's tenure, I believe I am qualified to say that that may be one of the dumbest comments posted on this board.

That stadium is EMPTY. Saw somewhere they've won 11 straight regular season games. And that's all they can get? Even we got better attendance than that in the SUPERDOME when we weren't winning nearly that much.

Ok---why am I seeing a Fox Sports feed on ESPN-3? Don't think I've ever seen that before.

I just tuned in to the game. Surprised by the lack of attendance.

Interesting. It's usually the other way around. The national broadcaster uses its crew and the local RSN carries the national feed.
