These Sagarin ratings/rankings are a joke. Tulane easily defeated Southeastern University by two touchdowns but Southeastern was ranked 51 places/teams higher than Tulane by Sagarin.

Cinci allows Toledo to drop 35 on them, and they suddenly become the team to beat?

The first 6-8 weeks of a season the Sagarins are heavily infuenced by the previous years numbers. That influence drops each week as a new aero from the current seasn is added and a week from the prior season is dropped. In other words---early season numbers don't mean a lot.

It's clear these rankings take into account SOS. Memphis facing a ranked UCLA on the road, UCF facing a ranked Mizzou on the road, Cincy about to face a ranked Ohio State on the road, ECU facing a ranked VA Tech on the road, etc.

Payne has us 23rd with a good chance to win out.

ECU is better than UCF sagarin is a joke.

Not much can be taken from Sagarin this early. It gets more accurate about mid season when SOS comes into play.

Yeah, I'm assuming he's factoring historical data from last year into his formulas though.

I created some computer ranking algorithms during the last year and from 3 weeks of data, ECU is pretty significantly far ahead of UCF right now.
