CUSA needs all the help it can get and the AAC wouldn't mind giving you air time. I like to play CUSA, our Super Bowl tour was awesome our last year in it.

Not exactly. According to 247 UTEP has the #53 rated class for 2015. Only Memphis (14), UCon (18) and Cincy (41) have higher rated classes at this point.

I still hope to see Memphis land Skal Labissiere and Temple to land Levan Alston (Temple has a commit from his friend, Trey Lowe)

If we land Alston and Ernest Aflakpui, we'll have the #30 class in the country.

RE: CUSA vs AAC basketball challenge
It's hard to smack talk a league who had nearly half their membership in the Big Dance and still has the reigning national champion. I can see an improvement of the CUSA, but we're NOT on the same level top to bottom of the American in basketball. They had five teams in the top 25 in a single week last season... we're nowhere near that, no matter HOW bad the bottom couple teams of the American happen to be.

Those two are not in a Basketball Power Conference anymore. I'm guessing both schools are lobbying hard to get out.
Never been a problem for Memphis. Top 5 recruiting classes for 3/4 of the last decade

Unlike cb, I do believe the AAC is a good bball league. Somewhat top heavy but there is no denying the basketball pedigree of UConn, Memphis, Cincy, and Temple. The AAC will always get three to five teams in the Dance as it stands today.

But like I've said before, if you know you're good then you don't constantly have to tell others that you're good. CUSA has the opportunity to be a multi-bid league; it isn't that farfetched.

It certainly can be, but it's going to take work. It's been a while since CUSA was multi-bid consistently. There's a good core of programs with potential -- UAB, La. Tech, UTEP, Charlotte, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, ODU -- but they're all going to have to improve to get to a point where a second bid is a reasonable hope.

If a CUSA-AAC challenge took place this season, it'd probably not be pretty for CUSA. The AAC's top five, six schools are well ahead of their CUSA equivalents. Down the line, maybe that changes, but it's going to take time.
I don't know if you've noticed, because you are new to the league, but over the last few years those teams were in this conference, UTEP beat all those teams in that conference, regularly. Memphis did pull off a 1 point victory, Houston and Tulsa had a couple upsets one year, but other than that smooth sailing
Memphis was 7-3 against UTEP in C-USA. I don't like being a chest pumper, but ignorance like that needs to be called out. C-USA would give anything to have Memphis basketball back in the conference. Your arenas filled to the brim when the Tigers came to town

Yes, probably some real nailbiters and a chance for wins.

RE: CUSA vs AAC basketball challenge
There's really few basketball teams from either the MWC or AAC that I would like UTEP to play on a home and home much less on a basketball challenge. Like New Mexico, UNLV, Cal State-San Diego, Utah State, Cincinnati, Temple and UConn. Other than those 7, I just don't care about the rest from both conferences.

Renewing the basketball series with New Mexico should be a priority for both UTEP and UNM now that Alford is at UCLA. Playing former WAC rival BYU should be a priority as well. The WCC has Gonzaga and occasionally St. Mary's but other than that they need much stronger teams in OOC

I'd add Memphis and UNR to that list. Had a pretty good rivalry developing with UNR on the court when we left the wac.
