After 2 games, does anyone have a feel for the likely freshmen class (or other) redshirt candidates? I think PJ said we played 18 freshmen last night (not sure if that's "true freshmen" or not). I was hoping we could redshirt a fair number of newcomers this season. Probably wishful thinking.

I'm thinking the other 2 freshmen RB's and Chance Stewart would be likely candidates. This assumes Franklin, Terrell and others stay healthy of course.

Haven't seen the following show up in either of the Participation Report's from Purdue and Idaho:

(DB) Deontae Brown
(RB) Jamauri Bogan
(RB) Leo Ekwoge
(LB) Jason Sylva
(OL) Curtis Doyle
(OL) Zach Novoselsky

(WR) Javonte Seabury
(TE) Chris McDaniel

That's a pretty darn good group of players listed above there that haven't even seen the field yet. Granted there are also a handful of walk-on true freshmen that haven't showed up yet in PR's either, but I didn't go there.

I thought I heard Robin Hook mention Sylva's name when we got low on LB's late in the game. Not sure though.

Don't see his name on the Participation Report. Thought he was still in a walking boot too.

I don't think Sylva played. Leo Ekwoge might be turning into a LB soon and seeing the field if the injury crap keeps up and is serious.

Looking ahead to 2015, I do think that half of that class at least are going to be redshirt candidates depending on attrition etc...

The non travel group has been really small apparently and there are a few freshman in that group. Agree with Hoek on his list unless someone gets hurt and they have to play.
Chuks should be on this list...but played minimal now in both games. Hope they don't burn his red shirt over this little playing time.

I thought you could participate in a certain percentage of plays up to so many games before you had to establish red shirt plans on a player? Guess it is different in football than other sports? Humm...
If that is the case with football then PLAY the kid! What a waste.

That experience at Purdue came in handy. When Moton had to move over while Rodriguez was out, chukes came in. I think our coaches are doing a good job working him in while not letting it be a detriment.

Chukes also played quite a bit against Idaho.

Chukes should probably play a lot against Murray, and try and get some rest for Rodriguez instead of pushing the injury.
