Quote:6. Troy (0-3)

The Trojans started the season with a loss to rival UAB and then blew a two-score lead to lose to Duke. On Saturday they lost to FCS non-powerhouse Abilene Christian, who entered the game 0-2 with losses to frequent Bottom 10-dweller Georgia State and the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona. Now Troy travels to uber-angry Georgia while Abilene Christian hosts Incarnate Word, a.k.a. The Team That Lost To The Team That Hosted "College GameDay" Last Weekend By 58 Points.

Quote:9. Idaho (0-2)

When I was a kid, my brother and I spent a lot of time in the backyard practicing baseball with a Hank Aaron Pitch-Back, a net mounted on springs that would throw the ball back at you just as hard as you'd thrown it. And that brings me to Idaho. The Vandals are really good at slinging the ball downfield, ranked 13th in the nation with 343 passing yards per game. Unfortunately, like me, little bro, and Hank, the ball is coming back at them just as hard. They're ranked 108th in total defense and 118th in points surrendered at 40 per game ... against ULM and Eastern Michigan.

Quote:Waiting List: Fresno State (0-3), Washington State (1-2), Texas coin-flippers, the guy who sent me an email comparing Georgia Southern's near-miss effort vs. Georgia Tech to the final battle in "300."

Has Georgia State been in the bottom 10 this year? Was Georgia State there last year? I honestly don't know.

I think they were there almost the entire season last year... This is not a scientific thing about the worst 10 teams in any way but more of a way for ESPN to poke fun at specific programs

Yes, you were there for most of the season. Here's 2013 for anyone who is curious.

Mark Schlabach no longer does the Bottom 10, I think it was handed off to a writer that came from covering NASCAR or something. He's not going to be at the same level as Schlabach was, so I think that has something to do with what we're seeing so far.

RE: ESPN Bottom 10
Week 4 Update:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...-bottom-10

3. Troy (0-4)

Over the first month I've heard from multiple fans of Sun Belt teams, reminding me that the MAC (really just the MAC East) might be dominating the Bottom 10 now, but that this is isn't a sprint of sadness, it's a marathon of misery, and I should be warned that its teams would be making their moves soon. Indeed they are, and leading that charge are the Trojans, whom I am told played at Georgia over the weekend, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that they were actually there.

7. New Mexico State (2-2)

Was the Rio Grande Rivalry everything we hoped it might be? No, it was better. And as unusual as it might be for a 2-2 team to be on this list, let's consider the body of work. The Aggies' 2-0 start came via victories over Georgia State and Cal Poly, a school that has only played football for five years and a school that I honestly did not know plays football. Then they lost to UTEP. And now they lost at home to their 0-2 rival via a TD pass with 27 seconds remaining.

9. Appalachian State (1-2)

The Mountaineers' Week 1 loss to Michigan is looking worse by the hour. That win over scholarship-less Campbell (Go Camels!) was never going to look good. There was a time when a one-point loss to Southern Miss would have been a nice measuring stick. This is not that time. It was the Golden Eagles' third win in 28 games. Now it's off to Georgia Southern for the We Think McGee Hates Us No Matter What We Do Bowl. Back in the day, this game was a guaranteed FCS classic. Now it's ... well, it's not that.

Waiting List: My-hammy of Ohio (0-4), Idaho (0-3), FIU (1-3), FAU (1-3), everyone in the Mountain West's West division except for Nevada, the Georgia Southern fan who stuck a bumper sticker on my dash at the grocery store.

RE: ESPN Bottom 10
CBS is getting in on the act now...

Bottom 25

21. Appalachian State 1-2 (UR)
Best Win: 66-0 vs. Campbell | Worst Loss: 21-20 at Southern Miss
Average Score: 33.3-24.3 | This Week: at Georgia Southern
Appalachian State is the other team with a positive point differential this week, but it's all thanks to that 66-0 win over Campbell. In games against FBS opponents, the Mountaineers have been outscored 73-34, and that includes a 52-14 loss to Michigan that looks worse on the resume every week.

12. Georgia State 1-3 (17)
Best Win: 38-37 vs. Abilene Christian | Worst Loss: 45-14 at Washington
Average Score: 30.25-41.0 | This Week: No game
Georgia State nearly threw it all away this week. It was actually beating Washington on the road 14-0 at halftime. Then, thanks to some critical halftime adjustments, the Panthers were able to be outscored 45-0 in the second half. Finishing strong is always important.

11. Louisiana-Lafayette 1-3 (19)
Best Win: 45-6 vs. Southern | Worst Loss: 48-20 vs. Louisiana Tech
Average Score: 22.25-36.0 | This Week: No game
While its loss to Boise State this weekend certainly played a role in the Cajuns climbing eight spots this week, some of the credit must go to Louisiana Tech. Tech managed to lose to Northwestern State this week, which really boosted Louisiana-Lafayette's weakness of schedule.

6. Idaho 0-3 (7)
Best Win: None | Worst Loss: 45-33 vs. Western Michigan
Average Score: 29.3-39.7 | This Week: vs. South Alabama
I'm issuing you a challenge, Idaho. Oh sure, you're 0-3 on the season, and every loss counts, but you haven't lost a game by more than 12 points yet. How bad do you want this? Show me, Vandals. Show me.

2. Troy 0-4 (2)
Best Win: None | Worst Loss: 38-35 vs. Abilene Christian
Average Score: 15.5-46.5 | This Week: at Louisiana-Monroe
Troy saw Georgia on the schedule this week and it had only one goal in mind, "We're climbing to No. 1 this week." Then it went out and executed the plan perfectly, getting steamrolled 66-0. Unfortunately for the Trojans, you can't always get what you want. While they closed the gap quite a bit on SMU, it just wasn't enough. Hopefully Troy won't get discouraged.

I wonder if this is true, or if he is just rolling with the first couple weeks. It would be funny as hell to see him carry this on all season.
