Yeah, from the perspective of a football game...it was a D at best.

For us as a team it was great because we got to do a lot of testing and playing around with things.

RE: MAC Power Rankings Week 1
I just don't get how a Purdue team, who NIU just pounded last year is ahead of NIU after that week 1 showing vs WMU. Not to mention Illinois being some 20-some spots ahead of NIU after getting all it could handle from the Penguins.

LOL, CFN is hilariously bad at this. They've had us there at the start of each year for the past 4 years, and they've been wrong by about 40-60 positions in the ranking every year, by the end of the year. I guess eventually they'll be right, just like a stopped clock is right twice a day.

They have no credibility at all, why even care what they say?

I saw that... I don't even think we deserve any as of right now, but why the hell does Marshall get so many more votes? Is the whole 'they have the easiest schedule, and I think they will probably be the top G5,' somehow sway the coaches to vote for them? If so... It doesn't make any sense.

RE: MAC Power Rankings Week 1
I hate grouping teams as part of a non-P5 grouping, but I am keeping a spreadsheet this year to mirror the old BCS standings and here is how I have the top 5 G5 teams as of right now with relative points:

1. BYU 137
2. Marshall 64
3. Cincinatti 33
4. Louisiana-Lafayette 30
5t. Northern Illinois 4
5t. Colorado State 4
Next 3: Boise State, Memphis, Temple

Maybe it's because Marshall went 10-4, they have been recruiting extremely well, are loaded on offense with a 4 year starter at QB and return 15 starters.

They went 10-4, NIU went 12-2. Our offense is still pretty dang loaded, even after the loss of Jordan Lynch - we return 16 starters... 9 Offense, and 6 defense, and 1 specialist. What's your point?

For Marshall to get to the Peach Bowl, they are going to need major major help even if undefeated. BYU is going to at least have to lose twice, I think Cincinatti would need to lose twice also. If there is a glimmer of hope for Marshall, both Cincy and BYU do have a few tough games on their schedule.

Hmm. I know Marshall has a weak schedule, but you never know with how the committee ranks the teams. If Marshall goes undefeated and BOTH Cincy and BYU lose one game, they may put Marshall ahead of them.

If that happens, I think it really sends a conflicting signal and poor message with this SOS emphasis. I have seen some really bad schedules being a MAC fan, but good gravy, that Marshall schedule is beyond embarrassing.

RE: MAC Power Rankings Week 1
CUSA is much better than the MAC on a whole. But Marshall not playing a single P5 team and getting all this love is a little perplexing. But like everyone else they will play the schedule they have and will have to earn the praise on the field. Though I totally agree a 1 loss BYU or UCF will probably get more votes for the Peach Bowl.

RE: MAC Power Rankings Week 1
The MAC has two good teams (NIU and Toledo) and two okay teams (BGSU and Ball State). Conference USA has WKU, UTSA, North Texas, Marshall, UTEP, and defending champion Rice. All of which who could compete well for the MAC title. So yes, as a whole CUSA is better than the MAC. The MAC pretty much sucks if you really think about it man. Which again, is why we need to get out of dodge as quickly as possible.

I would only consider two of those teams good Marshall (still not sold as they struggled with Miami-OH) and WKU. I think the MAC is much better than C-USA actually, much better.

Alright you can feel that way. But you won't be able to convince me or a lot of other people that the MAC is better than CUSA top to bottom. It's the sad truth. But hey, at least our team is really good haha.

Maybe this could be considered a good year for CUSA when they might be considered close to the MAC level, but overall, the MAC is heads and shoulders above CUSA.
