Conversely, third-ranked Oregon buried South Dakota. UCLA gets a crack at such a tomato can this week, when it plays host to Memphis. The Bruins opened as a 24-point favorite.

Good stuff. I hope they think they are playing a patsy after beating P5 juggernaut Virginia.

A wonderful aspect of sports - often missing in the real world - is the presence of a clearly defined result proving the naysayers wrong. Let's hope we seize the opportunity.

I am leading the charge to throw tomato cans at them when they come to the Liberty Bowl for a rematch

RE: LA Times- Mem vs UCLA
The tomato can article says they were missing their linchpin. I wonder if he will play Sat.

"The offensive line was the starting point. Hundley was sacked five times, and UCLA had only 116 yards rushing. The offensive line woes were in part because of the absence of center Jake Brendel, who sat out because of a sprained knee.

"That was the first game Jake hadn't been the starting center since I came here," Mora said. "He's a linchpin."

T.J. Simers was fired from LA Times last year. I think he works for the Orange County Register now. Ask Geoff Calkins, I think he follows TJ 's career, lol.

Edit: Looks like he just recently retired or announced his retirement

A comment by one of their fans..

"Can you please point out where ANYONE suggested we would lost to a Memphis team that’s even more pathetic than Virginia (CBS preseason #68)? What person in their right mind is of the opinion that because Memphis (who went 3-9 last season in one of the worst conferences in America) beat up on a joke Division I-AA program (I’ve been to Austin Peay’s campus . . . I didn’t even know they had a team . . . that’s how lame they are), that they will give the pre-season #7 team in the country a run for their money?!

If we lose to Memphis (CBS preseason #104), then yes, Jim Mora should be fired. That would be akin to Florida State losing to Louisiana Tech or Army. That’s insanity.

So, please point out where on BN someone is expressing serious concern about our ability to beat (at home in the Rose Bowl) a complete joke like Memphis."

RE: LA Times- Mem vs UCLA
UCLA may win the game....but we'll give them a better showing than South Dakota gave Oregon.
We'll take away their running game...forcing them to throw the ball more.
I hope our offense is better at holding onto the football than they were last week....(although a lot of that could have been because of the rain)

The AAC still ranked at the top of the best of the rest. Let's hope the team doesn't do their research either...

"We would LOST to Memphis"? What a joke at trying to write.

Keep talking about Oregon, you UCLA arrogant jerks. I know one Oregonian who will have his Memphis gear on in Eugene rooting for the Tigers. 04-cheers

If the Tigers play like they are capable of then the Bruins are in for a rude awakening. We may or may not hold them down for the whole game - but, they will remember Memphis.
