Don't get me wrong, I was at the TEDCU opener Friday, and I get the on campus atmosphere is cool... If it were up to me, I'd start construction tomorrow. I just don't see it happening anytime soon, USF seems confortable at RJS.

FWIW, I don't think we need to be winning to talk about an OCS. We were 'winning' before, and never heard much OCS chatter around USF.

Cuban I really doubt there will ever be a 'conditional' invite: Build the stadium and then you are in... That's why Houston et al are building their stadiums. We either peg our conference hopes on RJS, or we build an OCS first.

There. Are always conditions and behind the scenes talk. Just like there were conditions when we join the Big East to upgrade facilities.

ADs talk and they have feelers out there that will talk off the record. If the Big12 is interested in USF but they want us to have an OCS they will let our AD know in some form or other.

Likely, if your AD is worth his salt and if your President has told him that the program goal is to get in a P5 conference, then he already knows or has been told by P5 conferences what it will take to get in. It is just not disclosed to the fan base publicly so as to not demoralize them. If on campus stadium was a condition and one of only 1 to 3 conditions then you guys would be breaking ground and pimping renderings as we speak. I get the RJS is a great venue argument. We play in a great one. If circumstances and stars had not lined up (Georgia Dome eminent implosions, scheduling issues, Turner Field eminent availability) then I doubt we would be pursuing our own place. So it is extremely hard to convince the fan base to shell out for a new place when they go to games in a great place. The other thing us fans get spoiled by chair back seating and suites. So whatever you build cannot be a glorified high school stadium either. A lot to consider.

Major reno's or new builds:

Tulane, Cinci, Minnesota, Washington, not sure about the Zona schools and where they are located, SMU, TCU, Houston, may throw FAU/FIU, Cal Charlotte......Temple wants out, Georgia St is looking to transform a baseball field, any others? Hell aren't the Bucs complaining about RJS?

I'm of the opinion that you have to have a OCS in order to have a true college football environment. I think we will see from Tulane, Houston and Cincy that their upgrades/replacements will make their gameday exponentially better. There's that old saying that "you can always win the tailgate".

So was Camp Randall Stadium for Wisconsin.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

For NFL games (regular season and Super Bowls), yes it is...but as the off-campus home for an AAC Team, probably not.

Very similar to what Houston (played in numerous off-campus and then an old on-campus stadium) and of course Tulane (played in a great NFL stadium which was TERRIBLE for a then CUSA or even an AAC team) have gone through.

Just because a stadium is great for the NFL...doesn't mean its great for an off-campus stadium for a non-P5 program.
