Not bad, but can't hurt to think about fund raising for it, the more you get the better the coach you'll be able to afford. The belt will benefit having Troy return to power (not in terms of dominating the conference championships, but if nothing else, being very good OOC).

I had a conversation with a guy in the athletic department last year and he said Troy will probably be prepared to pay in the 600-800k range when Blakeney leaves.

Not to mention the people doing them are clueless.

That's why we do these on this forum because I consider our membership on this forum really knowledgeable about all of the conference teams, and in most cases infinitely more than anyone at ESPN/CBS/Fox Sports regarding the teams in this conference.

3) ASU - nice win over GOOD FCS.
4) Georgia Southern - almost knocked off ACC team. Depth not good.
5) USA - can't tell yet with no game, but get this after last year.
6) Texas St.- dominated bad FCS.
7) NMSU - nice win over FCS
8) Idaho - cancelled game
9) Troy - awful start
10) Georgia St. - got to not out them last since they won.
11) App St. - Nor the worst, but hard to tell much after this week. Will probably move up fast. No offense app, we do this weekly and you can move way up in a week.
Anybody that puts ULm in top 5 is blind. They beat a team that never competes in ACC. Wake forest is bad. So bad if they were in the sun belt they would finish bottom 4. ULm scored 1 offensive touchdown!.

I think that's a good range to start with, you don't have the luxury like the cajuns to build up a contract with multiple good years and fanbase building(so naturally your fan support will be down), or pay top dollar off the bat because of a coach leaving with payout clauses like ASU has gotten. If you get in the 600-800 range, and you do your due process, you can get a good coach. It always takes a bit of luck when it comes to that too.

I'm no ULM defender, but they held an AQ team to 94 total yards of offense. 94! Todd Gurly had twice that just running the ball and had more than it on just 1 return. Wake's offense sucks, but holding anyone to 94 yards of offense means your defense is legit. They will be a thorn in the side of multiple teams this year. I think they are a bit high, but that happens when you have the best win of the conference teams this week, and these rankings are supposed to be a snapshot of where you are in the season, not where you actually finish.

Blakeney makes just shy of $450, 00 per year with TV contracts and all. Highest paid coordinator makes around $140,000. Lowest paid position coach is about $68,000.

I think I'll have a beer.

Aldo what's the difference in ULLs win and Texas states win? Nothing in my eyes. Yet you have them split by 5 spots. Montana state would beat both southern and UAPB by 30. I might even like to see wake play Montana state.

Also i would move Troy down into a tie for last. That was a really bad loss!

I think Texas State can take ULM this year. But their win over Wake Forest was more impressive than our win over UAPB.

I don't know why people get up in arms about a power ranking after 1 week where 2 teams didn't play.

For real...

There's an official power ranking called the Sun Belt conference standings.

That's the only power ranking that matters.

Keep telling yourself that bubba. Montana State might be slightly better that either program that Texas State or UL played, but this is the same program that was crushed by Sam Houston State Twice in recent years 49-13 and 34-16. They were #18 FCS going into the game after going 7-5 last season. They are hardly North Dakota State and certainly not top 10 FCS.

No team played anyone other than Georgia Southern and App. State. Everyone else played crap teams including Wake Forrest that is P5 in name only. I don't care how anyone ranks teams in the SBC after the first week.

I don't where we rank in the sun belt right now but beating a AQ school by dominating both line of scrimmages and wearing them completely down at the end is much more impressive than beating an FCS school. ULM's offense definitely needs to improve going forward but the defense is very stout. This is also a very deep and experienced team that will not be an easy game for anyone in the sun belt.

To me Georgia southern was the best by far.

Troy was by far the most disappointing

A lot of teams will have to wait fir real determination of who they are.

Sam Houston lost in the finals. Southern and UAPB are not even in top 50 FCS schools. Montana state is in top 20. Mist consider them to have the best FCS defense. Whether you think they are a good team the fact is ASU learned more about their team.

All the ULm game says to me is "we" be a bad team.

No way can I see Texas State's win as a case for us to be #1. It was an impressive rout... But it was a REALLY bad team we played.

To me, best win over an FCS team was stAte's. Second was close with the Cajuns win. Third? Georgia State. Then New Mexico State's. Finally us.

We had a totally dominating performance, but we should given the opponents we faced.

To me Georgia southern was the best by far.

Troy was by far the most disappointing

A lot of teams will have to wait fir real determination of who they are.

I really don't want to rank FCS wins to be honest. Rank them in tiers. Next week will be a better judgment week!
