If people want to dog Ga State, I think they should find something else. For comparison, the only other team to go on a comparable winless streak, Western Kentucky, managed a home crowd of 10,813 against Arkansas State at home and that game was at 3pm on a Saturday.

Heck if Ga State can pull out a home win versus NMSU, they'll be 2-0 and facing Air Force at home for the next game. That could result in a good crowd.

I've been told the AF game has already sold a ton of tickets. We marketed directly to the multiple bases around here and apparently got 3 Air Force bases involved. Hopefully they don't outnumber us. lol. Oh well, even if they do it's cash in pocket.

Ours was our opener. 30,237 vs Shorter.

Previous to our NEZ expansion the largest crowd was 11/21/1981 vs A&M Kingsville @ 16,600

With two weeks two go until the next game, it being military appreciation week, and a notable opponent, PLUS a dominating performance at home this weekend... I'm hoping to put us near 25k.

My understanding from what I have heard "on-the-street" is that the Navy game is almost sold out. Of course, this is unverified. I can't be there that weekend so I haven't tried to buy tickets. Has anyone else tried? What's available?

I heard from someone at the game this weekend that there are only 150 reserved seats left for the Navy game and general admission seems to be moving too.

I think Navy secretly wants into the SBC, they play 3 SBC teams this season, two of those are played at the SBC team.

And both of those should result in good attendance games for TxSt and South.

And we were loud! Had several NCSU fans come up to us and say we could be heard all game long...until their fans finally decided to wake up late in the 4th. Great to see up show up with the intensity, but would have liked to see more fans make the trip.

I think we are going to bring huge numbers (considering our fan base size) to both GT and GaSt.

Thank you for posting this; it'd seem petty for one of us GSU fans to seek it out and throw it up here. I'm not ready to fight the attendance fight until we actually see what happens with a decent product on the field.

Also, while our turnout was terrible, and the visitors' site looked it, the home side actually had a decent look and feel. I'm surprised we weren't able to tweak a higher announced value out of the numbers. I suppose that will come later in the year if we get desperate for 15k.

Not sure how much tweaking you can do at this point. The tickets have to be sold and/or the students have to come in in the door. The only tweaking you can do is have a donor buy a boat load of tickets late in the season.

I'm not sure a better product significantly effects attendance for you guys. I think you guys are just a product that is going to take a long time to grow any kind of significant fan base. There is just to much going on in the ATL, after all, you guys share a town with ACC Georgia Tech, they have a stadium that holds 55k and how often do they sell out? And that is a program that has been playing football for 100+ years.

Even with a few more wins, you guys may be hard pressed to have a realistic bigger crowd then you did on Wednesday night. Hope I'm wrong, time will tell. What will help is games where the opposing team brings 2k-5k people.

I think you bring a lot to GT and not as many to GSU. Games are too close together and right now the AF game is selling more tickets than the GS game. Its asking fans to pay for two trips in a 40 day period.

First home win since...

Thanks

LOL

How many times are we going to rehash this. GT cant sell out their stadium because they suck and because they are elitist. They are content with the fact that their fan base is Tech Men (and now Women) exclusively. You never see a kid walking around town with a Tech Jersey...ever...unless their parents went there. We will be fine. Its a city of 6 freakin million with 125k plus local alumni. Win and they show up. Dont win and they do not. Welcome to big city schools. Ask USF.

I agree with that as well, I took a smoke right before the start of the fourth, missed Ncstate going for it on 4th and goal, but when geo south fans would cheer it was just a little bit quieter then when the Wolfpack fans would cheer.

Edit; impressive considering the difference in numbers

So true! I've been in the Atlanta area for a few years and I've never gone to a Georgia Tech game nor do I know many people that do. I've gone to at least 3 Georgia State games and a Georgia Southern game during that same time span.

Week 1 Attendance:
36,170 - Louisiana Lafayette
26,143 - Arkansas State
21,003 - Louisiana Monroe
17,813 - Texas State
13,772 - New Mexico State
10,140 - Georgia State

No home games yet:
Appalachian State
Georgia Southern
Idaho
South Alabama
Troy

Home games next weekend:
Campbell @ Appalachian State
Savannah State @ Georgia Southern
New Mexico State @ Georgia State
Idaho @ ULM
Duke at Troy
Louisiana Tech @ Louisiana Lafayette

So far as a league we are averaging 20,840 fans a game.

We opened up on a thursday night against a FCS squad on the opening day of highschool football in Las Cruces. I think we will be able to sell more seats this year just because of our field turf etc. NMSU gets UNM in week 3 we should be able to boost up our numbers with that game.

The GT appeal will be them playing CPJ and the option yadda yadda yadda "Luke I am your father". But Tech is the most self loathing elitist fan base in the South and I have friends and co-workers who went there. They have played for 120 years, have four National Titles including a more recent one than UGA and sit in the middle of the city and they are not Atlanta's Team. Think about that for a second.

Well we have a lot of alumni in the Atlanta area, not a big deal for me to get on Marta to either local game and it's an easy trip from those leaving in middle or South Georgia

Do we know the kickoff time for Ga st game?
