Tulsa and Cincinnati don't play each other this season.

Cincinnati plays @Tulane, and Yulman wouldn't have been ready by August 30th. Or at least, we couldn't have been sure if it would've been ready or not. And September 6th is the date that Georgia Tech plays @Tulane. So basically, Cincinnati (or the conference) would've had to buy out the GT game, plus find Tulane another OOC opponent at some mutually-convenient time somewhere else during the season.

Was all that possible? Maybe. But I can also see it if the league couldn't make those arrangements.

That's a lot of extra practice time B4 first game! It could be a big edgr over others. 07-coffee3

Yes, but if I recall correctly they will not have any byes throughout the season so that is a definite disadvantage.

Agree, if they get banged up and do not have depth. 07-coffee3

Question, is all the blame on the league not helping you out? Or is working around the Bengals schedule part of the issue as well? I don't know because I'm being lazy and not googling, but do you guys host home games the same week as the Bengals at any point this season?

EDIT: found my answer, not due to that. Almost all the home games the Bearcats play at Paul Brown fall on Bengals home games.

RE: I feel bad for Cincy
A couple of salient points...

-It would have been nice for the Conference to help us out, but the conference can't compel anyone to move their schedules around and it wasn't the conference that created the mess. The opportunities for the Conference to move things around was limited and the few opportunities they had didn't want to shuffle their stuff around. It's OK.

-And, as far as the Conference (collectively) is concerned, UC didn't help things out with our AD publicly stating that UC's priority was to secure an invitation to a Power conference. Therefore, I completely understand the Conference (collectively) not making much of an effort to make a bunch of changes to accommodate UC's scheduling conundrum. This too, is OK...

The irony is that UC...not even having played a single down of FB this season...remains one of the most valuable brand names in the conference, garnering more votes than a couple of teams that already have wins in their books. Where the Conference (collectively) could have potentially had a ranked UC team (assuming a game and a UC win), the AAC will have to settle for a UC program that sits idle for two weeks that no doubt slides down the vote list. Oh well, it is what it is.

If ECU can grab a win against South Carolina this Saturday, then the AAC should get at least one team into the rankings in the next week.

1. Actual game tape on Toledo and O$U - tape on Miami (OH) won't matter
2. Everyone's healthy
3. Better opponent in Miami (Fla.)

Only disadvantage - game one jitters in week 3.

I think this wait will prove to be a benefit in the long run - and with CTT running the scheduling, this won't happen again. 05-nono

GO BEARCATS!

Because AAC doesn't have a championship game and extends their regular season schedule to the Championship Weekend in Dec, AAC teams could have 3 bye weeks this year.

For UC, they only have 1 bye week and that doesn't pop up till after the 8th game of the season.
