Maybe I'm wrong, but a 6-6 season is on the horizon for CMU if you ask me and Enos needs to be kicked.

NIU looked very good vs. Toledo Christian tonight. Their new QB likes to run a little which will be fun for UT's D again this year. Akron as good as predicted by the pre season coaches poll. Can't wait to see TDS play tomorrow night.

Rawls was decent at Michigan, he should have a big year for CMU, but they'll still be a mediocre team. I agree with a 6-6 season.

Got a laugh out of the Toledo Christian comment. Whose idea at NIU was it to schedule a crap team like that? What good does that do for your program? If you're going to go the FCS route, I like scheduling top 5 teams (e.g. New Hampshire).

Im in agreement. If NIU makes any noise this year, all the pundits will look at the MAC Schedule and then the PRESBYTERIAN game.

We played Eastern Washington, New Hampshire- teams that are competitive and quality FCS programs.

No, we opened up on the road vs. Florida and Missouri. THAT is what NIU doesn't do. Every SEC team plays a nobody, but their schedules are filled with Jolly Green Giants. NIUs best OOC team is usually Iowa which falls 3rd on our list of OOC teams every season. They aren't battle tested but they aren't banged up either.

This season our OOC schedules are similar but Mizzou is better than Arkansas, cinci is better than NW, Iowa State and UNLV are about the same, and UNH is better than PC. So actually. I lied. Their OOC would grant 3-1 to four teams in the MAC. 4-0 to the top team or two. Ours is about impossible to sweep.

Not the same UF team Toledo played. Gators had a tremendous amount of injuries including their QB(#1 in the nation Senior year in HS) before they got to GSU on the schedule.

I know. But still, GS first year in FBS and beat the Gators. Especially in Gainesville, no small feat.

We got stuck with a hole in our schedule when Nebraska went to the B16. We were suppose to play them at Soldier Field this year, but they bought us out when they had issues moving their schedule around for B16 play. Trust me.. we did not want to play the "Blue Hose". We have some nice home and homes set up for the future. Utah, BYU, San Diego State and Maryland. Still have to go a long way in our scheduling department, but the NEW AD seems to be headed in the right direction.

70% to beat UNH (assuming they are as ~good as last year)
30% to beat Mizzou (assuming Toledo is on their way up a bit)
40% to beat Cinci (Cinci will aim to try and beat down Toledo)
65% to beat Ball State
75% to beat CMU
70% to beat WMU (at WMU; WMU will be improved)
45% to beat Iowa State (at Iowa State; Iowa State is even with ND-State D1AA champs; come on)
98% to beat UMass (at home; UMass sucks)
70% to beat Kent State (@KSU; KSU will be improved)
35% to beat NIU (@NIU; NIU has a continuum that no other MAC team has; rarely loses at home)
50% to beat BGSU (at home; BGSU will want revenge and later in the season will be better w/ new HC)
90% to beat EMU (@EMU; EMU has new HC. They can only do better and can pull off wacky close ones)

Record off %s: 7.38W, 4.62L

Given more higher %s than lower, rounding UP: 8-4

Yes, Lesboterian is not a good D1AA school. However, say it was a 7-5 D1AA school they won by 30, instead of beating a lowly D1AA by 50+? Who cares? It's a gimme-game either way.

The MAC schedule? OK. Depends on how well the MAC pans out this year. It won't be 2003, "The Year of the MAC" -- but if it turns out above-par, that'll be a good thing.

Compared to last year:

GOING UP:
Miami-OH: ND QB Transfer, great new HC. Miami can only go up and has talent & new HC to do so.
WMU: DJ PJ Fleck has more talent this time around, and more importantly, more grounding, so they can only go up.
Akron: They showed signs of it last year. Expect this year for them to be challenging BGSU for the Mac East title
Kent State: Improved, but nothing very special
EMU: New HC who doesn't really lose; EMU has only been good at scaring some teams; this year they'll be nothing special at all, but a notch up

GOING DOWN:
Ohio: Maybe not all that much; they've been disappointing when they should have been better last couple years
NIU: They pretty much can only go "down", but they're solid & keep the ball rolling year to year -- expect this to be a "down" year with 3 or possibly 4 regular season losses.

----------------
Overall, I see the MAC improving from last year. NIU likely won't be a national mid-major powerhouse, but still one to be respected and will be in a barn-burner for the MAC title again, since they have Toledo at home to help squeak out the MAC West title, breaking any tie-breaker with Toledo for 1st place.

The bottoms of the MAC will get a jolt up, with the exception of UMass who shouldn't even be in the conference unless they're also playing basketball. That'd be like Indiana joining the SEC football-only. WTF? Anyway, that + Akron cruising up -- the MAC will be a better conference.
