Western Kentucky fans will be thrilled.

But but, his dissertation said that you lose money on ticket sales.

Not interested...Thanks.

Its worth mentioning that SMU, Houston, and Cincy were mentioned 3 separate times in this press conference as "peer schools" Part of the continued rhetoric out of the current administration that has ignored the current CUSA and focused solely on the current SBC and AAC.

Its difficult to ignore the rhetoric. Our AD has been very public about the issues that CUSA faces, and mentioned multiple times he feels that App and Georgia Southern are better than what we lost.

If we were secretly trying to get into CUSA...my guess is he would be advised to tone down the rhetoric, instead, its increased. Almost as if we've been told what we need to do to considered by the bigger G5 leagues, and have left it to our alums to make the necessary changes.

Its odd having a very open AD. Great...but odd.

New Video Board got its first dry run today as well. Its going to have updated stats, and be able to keep a rolling social media update of pictures and posts by fans while at the stadium.

These other schools don't know what it's like having a open AD. Our just keeps hinting at stuff people said we couldn't do only to see it happen.

Think A-Sate is committed to being the best G5 program, period, and that will take them to where it takes them.

Of course every G5 says that but what separate's them from the pack is they seem to have a plan, and apparently the means to make it happen, and the whole Administration seems to know something no one outside knows.

Do know your AD is not a 'blowing smoke' kind of a fellow, and you can take it to the bank when he said there will be many more days like Tuesday in your future.

RE: AstAte unveils the look of the new press box, 9 Million donation, Mizzou staying...
First of I'm very pumped about AstAte's new additions (press box, video board, indoor practice facility...all to be complete by next year and football ops center probably finished 2016)

But what gets me more enthused is the schools in our conference who are also making huge strides:

UL - Endzone expansion and future upgrades all around...that stadium is gonna be a monster some day and is now the largest on campus stadium in the SBC.

Texas St - upgraded a few years ago but what a nice stadium. I saw it while on vacation a couple of years ago during construction...probably the most beautiful stadium in the conference.

ULM - actually was the first to do a new video board upgrade a few years ago...when I saw it the first time, I realized how crappy and out date our board was...now we have a new one...arms race!

Troy - did a total make over several years ago as they entered the SBC which really transformed that stadium...then they hosted OK St and MO to show the rest of us hosting P5 games could be done.

Ga Southern has made some very nice stadium upgrades as part of their move to the SBC.

Ga State may be the beneficiary of the Falcons if they build a new stadium...although the Ga Dome seems to still be nice stadium but maybe too large for Ga State.

Seems I've heard rumblings that USA may try to build an on campus stadium. Having been to Ladd Peebles the last 3 GoDaddy Bowls it's functional but in a bad neighborhood and the scoreboard is in need of upgrading. USA NEEDS a new home or needs to partner with the city do Mobile to do a makeover of LP.

App St had a beautiful setting for their stadium and draws nice crowds so they benefit the conference.

Idaho has some plans to expand the Kibbie dome so improvements are coming there and NMSU has a nice facility.

All of us working to make our home fields better makes the SBC better and stronger and is very encouraging. I'm looking forward to road trips to all these destinations over the next few years to check out the improvements and I hope the rest of you will venture to Jonesboro especially the next two years.

04-cheers

RE: AstAte unveils the look of the new press box, 9 Million donation, Mizzou staying...
One thing I like about Mohajir's rhetoric. He doesn't say we want to join X conference or be like X conference. He talks about competing against specific schools. Can't recall him saying "want to be in a conference with ____, _____" just "compete against them".

He has defined success in a manner we have greater control over.

We can work to make our facilities like those schools and aim to make them better.
We can field teams that are rated with them or even above them.
But success is never defined by "be in their conference".

I think of what happened to NMSU. I suspect that many NMSU fans defined making it as joining the WAC when the league was founded by some of their conference mates leaving. There is no question that La.Tech and UNT for many years defined making it as joining CUSA. But for NMSU when they arrived in the WAC, Arizona and Arizona State were long gone, New Mexico had been gone several years, UTEP tipped their hat passing by on the way out. The CUSA that UNT joined no longer had Houston, SMU, TCU, and Tulsa shook hands said howdy and left, but they at least got UTEP and Rice on the schedule but also got UTSA who they had opposed for Sun Belt membership. When AState fans day dreamed of CUSA it was because Tulsa, SMU, Memphis, USM, Houston, Rice were there. Well Rice and USM are there now.

Defining success or making it by league affiliation is silly because by the time you get there the teams that made it attractive may well be gone or about to leave. That's why I like our AD. He never speaks in terms of a conference label always in terms of who we want to compete against and that is open to interpretation as to whether it means affiliated in a league or simply building a program of their caliber.

Couldn't say it better. Sure CUSA has Texas schools for us to play which would be nice, but he Sun Belt has a great line up of teams I'm happy to be associated with. Everyone is on the rise. GSU may struggle now but not for long. USA is making quick strides. App St and GS are perfect additions and will succeed quickly. UL and stAte are making national news for positive reasons. Having spent one year in the WAC, I can say a conference where everyone wants out is the worst to be a part of. It's not fun and didn't feel like we belonged.

Just in regards to Troy...there are plans to make more football stadium upgrades in the near future with the building of the new end zone facility. Will definitely elevate the look and feel of Troy's stadium. For me, it can't come soon enough. All this development by other programs is making me hungry for more facility upgrades because we feel like we're falling behind. There's a total facilities arms race happening in the SBC right now and that's definitely a great thing!
