An article and perspective about the Troy/UAB rivalry "war"
http://www.troymessenger.com/2014/08/25/...oyuab-war/

Blazer fans take it more seriously, while he feels Troy folks are all about business.

“Probably UAB because they try to feed off of (it.) They’re in a big city, so there’s a lot more media coverage, so there’s more hype. Troy has more tradition and history, so there’s nothing really for them to talk about – just go ahead and get it done.”

More media coverage?

I lived in Birmingham for several years, going to school and working, and never met a single person who considered themselves a UAB fan.

I've never met you in person.

Being totally honest, you and the people on this board are the only UAB fans I've ever known.

That's not that surprising. Message boards are where the fanatics are (yes, even UAB has some). I know lots of UAB fans, several of which I met from our message board.

troy could have two with uab and usa. alas, that number is a bit high for most troy fans to count so they decided to settle for usa as their one and only.

disclaimer: its game week reasonable smack is acceptable.

At least they don't try to get us off the schedule like another "team" I know of...so, don't take this ass whoopin' personally...it's just business.

I'm now glad we couldn't get the Memphis series worked out because it would have made it almost impossible to continue to play Troy

RE: An article and perspective about the Troy/UAB rivalry "war"
I wish all the luck to Coach Clark, may be the best shot UAb has at actually becoming a winner. However, I dislike UAb with all my being, and want nothing more then to see them lose this week and every other week as well.

I really hate that Coach Clark left JSU, but I think Grass can keep that train going too. Was a bad choice by Clark to take the UAb job, hold out another season at JSU and probably would of had a much better offer somewhere else. Somewhere where you can actually win a football game.

Go Troy for this one.

I hope you're right about this...but I'm definitely worried about this game. Clark has proven himself as a good coach. I'm just hoping the variables are too stacked against him at UAB this week.

RE: An article and perspective about the Troy/UAB rivalry "war"
I too think Clark made a poor career decision taking the UAb job. No one has been able to win their consistently and I don't think Coach Clark will change that. He did wonders at Prattville, but I don't think even Saban could turn the Blazers in to winners. I'm not even talking smack here, this is just how I feel.

I look to South as Troy's main in-state rival now. I think South feels the same way about Troy. UAb is simply not on Troy's level, a level I expect South Alabama to ascend to eventually. The State of Alabama has a lot of good football, and while the Blazers are NOT a winning program, they DO play hard against my Trojans. This game will be a good one, it always it. Of course I expect a win for the Good Guys in Cardinal, but I shy away from making bold predictions because even UAb can scam a win from time to time...*cough* 99 yards *cough*

He's UAB's 5th coach. Let's review:

Jim Hilyer: Took us from club football to 1AA; 27-12-2

Watson Brown: On pace to be the losingest coach in D1 history. He's never won anywhere he's been, yet continues to be employed. Remarkable, really.

Neil Callaway: No head coaching experience. OC who didn't call his own plays.

Garrick McGee: No head coaching experience. OC who didn't call his own plays.

So when you say "nobody's been able to win there consistently" You're talking about 3 guys.

I'm Never a sore loser but that was no TD sorry. Also I talked to a NCAA ref who he even said that was a bad call. After leading by 21 at the half we should have never allowed y'all to make it even a close game at the end.... Y'all won. Moving on....

The guy who mattered saw it differently, and I didn't bring it up.

Yet Watson Brown is the only coach to have made anything out of UAb, he at least gave y'all a winning season and a bowl game.

And burned the place down on his way out, but sure. That would mean his "nobody" comment would now encompass 2 guys.
