Georgia Southern fans do not take this the wrong way, but everything about the school screams underdog. From the name, to the jersey, to the town it is located in, but when bigger name schools start to underestimate thats when you bite them in the A$$. Including beating Florida last year, to home field advantage,

Same could be said for App State as well. I love the new additions to this Conference.

If Georgia Southern is going away from the wishbone they will be a completely different team and pretty much an unknown.

In a thousand words or less, someone splain me why the wishbone is not used at the FBC level much (if at all).

Growing pains.

I don't think their offensive style has that much of an impact on their homefield advantage.

They got that from winning (using that offense), but it has bred a slew of alumni that support the university, and put a culture in place for them to be rabid about their team. That won't change with a different style of play.

Now, should they come out and lose lose lose for 5+ years or so... That could change. But I don't think you'll see that. They have some pretty good talent on their team already, now they just need to build up depth, and they should be making noise in the Sun Belt.

If you fall behind on the scoreboard, it's tough to score quick and get back into games.

A well run triple option offense is one of my favorite things in all of football to watch.

We as in GS like being considered the underdog & having out blue collar way about our program......And we are glad to be in the Sun Belt

A full Kibbie Dome would be the loudest stadium in the SB. The acoustics are sh1t for concerts but awesome for amplifying the sound of the crowd.

You should check out our 2012 FCS Playoff game vs. ODU in Norfolk, They jumped up to a good lead & we kept running out TO & chipped away & came back to beat them...

Yea never been to App St but they should be ranked higher based on stories Ive heard from people who have.

List like these are just for laugh and giggles. However, with the amount of renovations and OOC games taking place in our stadiums in the next few years all of use should be able to move up. I know that GSO's new endzone building made the stadium sound louder during the last scrimmage and from the stories Ive heard App Sts gameday/stadium atmosphere is on par with P5 schools.

I think with AppState and GaSo, the Belt picked up two diamonds in the rough. This is gonna be a fun football conference.

Doesn't App State average 25,000 a game and led the FCS in attendance? Thought I heard that somewhere

Personally I think the Sunbelt added 2 schools with a lot of potential with GSU and TxSt, and then added the two best schools in FCS.

With all due respect, you have the opportunity to prove otherwise this season. Did you expect to be given any credit at this point without playing one year in the FBS?

The NFL.

Recruits want to play in an offense that shows off their skills to the NFL and the wishbone doesn't translate. Not sure the last time it was tried in the NFL, but maybe the Browns should give it shot. That would funny if they lined up in the bone the first game.

App States playoff record at home says it all. They get housed every year at home by lower seeds in the playoffs of late.

Hopefully we can go undefeated at home this year. Honestly, if that happens, I will consider it a good year.

So in Steele's number-based algorithm, App doesn't have a great home field advantage, despite from 2003 to 2011, App only lost 5 game at home and 3 of those were playoff games in 2008. 2010 and 2011. There was a 30-game streak from 2003 to 2007 that was ended by I'M NOT GOING TO SAY WHO.

It was a 22 game winning streak. If we hadn't won that game, you likely would have went on to the longest home winning streak to beat our streaks we had. We couldn't allow that to happen.

Personally, I think Texas State has already arrived. IMO they are a good team and have been for some years.

We've always been told what we can't do. You can't start a program, you can't be successful, you can't do it again, you can't get good players, you can't build a stadium, etc etc etc. Our look comes because we were so poor to start with we took donated equipment from people, and our uniforms were donations from Alabama which is why we look so similar. Our only decoration on the helmet was a stripe made out of tape because that's the only thing we could afford. Our entire existence has been a lot of people telling us we can't do things and us doing them, and blowing by people in the process.

We've embraced it. We used to be a lot quieter about things and just show people up. Over time we've gotten a lot more confident and as such, have some boisterous supporters, but we still like being the underdog.

You want to guarantee you'll be in a bad position against us? Tell us what we can't do. (or you can be like William and Mary and tell us that you'll need our parking passes back after the playoff game that day because they'll "need them next week")
